16th-38th in Jetavana (year-552)
Ten days later, the Buddha, along with the Venerable Sariputta, Moggallana, Ananda and the 300 mendicants who left Ragagaha, went north, crossed the Ganga River to visit them at the Mahàvana mansion in Vesali. Vajji. Then the Buddha set sail for the capital of Kosala of Kosala. In the coming rainy season, you need to return to Jetavana to prepare for the retreat.
To Sàvatthi, the Buddha went straight to Jetavana. The teachers waited for the Buddha here. This year the mendicants and mendicants here are settling heavily. Listening to the rumors of the upheavals in the capital of Magadha, people are anxious to see the Buddha for security and more accurate information. Khemà led a group of female nuns to visit the Buddha. She was elected by the nuns to replace Pajāpati Nun, now 113 years old.
King Pasenadi heard the Buddha returned immediately to visit. Buddha told the king about the events in Ragagaha. The Buddha said Videhi, the younger brother of the king, is still calm but sad in the heart. King Pasenadi also told the Buddha that more than a month ago the emperor sent his messenger to Ragagaha to ask King Ajatasattu to explain why there had been a detention of King Bimbisara and his two ministers. So far, we have not seen the delegation returned. King also said Buddha known to protest the actions of Ajatasattu king regained hamlets located Kasiraja that before, once married Princess Videhi on as chief consort of King Bimbisara, King Maha Kosala [1] has ceded To the land of Magadha dowry.
Season to settle. The abbots around the capital of Sàvatthi have many mendicants from gathering places. Every two weeks the Buddha lectures once in Jetavana. The mendicants in nearby clinics, after hours, boys gather here to hear the law. Grandparents like Sudatta Anàthapindika and Visakha are devoted to the food and necessities of the mendicants.
Buddhist business Amitabha
After the inauguration season of this year's retreat, in front of a large crowd of retired laymen, mendicants, gods and great bodhisattvas sitting quietly listening to the sermon, the Venerable Sariputta stood up from his seat Shoulder shirt right down, kneeling on the right side of the ground, hands folded Buddhist glass that:
- Buddha, just then at Griddhakuta (Vulture) Bhagavan has only queen Videhi way to rebirth in the Pure Land (Sukhavati) of Buddha Amitabha (Amita Buddha), we found that there is also A good practice, may be appropriate for the nature and desires of many people in this Ta-Ba (Saha). So, in front of today's large audience, the Exalted Blessed teach clearly about this miraculous method.
- Awesome! Hey! Sariputta, teacher for the benefit of sentient beings at the right time. Tathagata will talk about the land of Sukhavati of Amità Buddha and the method of cultivation to be born in the pure realm. Please listen hard.
- Well, we would listen hard.
- Hey Sariputta, in the west, over a hundred billion ago realms, there is a world called Ultimate Bliss, where there is effective Buddha Amitabha was preaching. The reason why that world is called the Ultimate Bliss is because there are no suffering beings that are usually peaceful.
"Sariputta, in the Pure Land, is full of precious things, trees, land, mountains, rivers and canals, and houses are of gold and silver. The lotus is full of wheels, full of blue, reddish yellow, emitting a bright aura and aromatic scent. There are often birds singing harmoniously with the winds of the tree branches, which give rise to the wonderful music that makes living beings feel refreshed, broadcast Bodhi mind, penetrate the Dharma, always think of the Buddha. , France, increase. Therefore, in the Pure Land, beings with no idea of the three evil paths [2] , whereas the full environment conducive to achievement of restraint. Moreover, beings in the Land of Ultimate Bliss are all produced by lotus blossoms, so mind and body are pure, no male, no craving.
"Sariputta, the reason the Buddha of the Land of Ultimate Bliss is Amità is because the Buddha emits countless auras across ten unobstructed obstacles. Amitàbha (Optical Quantum). Amitabha Buddha has the name Amitayus because of his life-span, as well as of the people there, long and infinitely long-lasting a-lifelong [3] .
"Sariputta, as good men and women have heard of Amitabha Buddha, has delivered a solid heart , a heart of honor that holds the title of a day, two days, three days, four days, five days, six The day, seven days, the time when the network is about to commemorate his name, Amitabha Buddha and the saint will definitely be present to receive him to the Pure Land .
"Sariputta, what we have just said is incredibly unbelievable for beings in this Ta-ma'am realm, but it is true words. Ten schools of Buddhism have also said so and he will vow to relay protection concept for those who practice Pure Land way of this .
The Buddha finished speaking, the great disciples immediately folded his hands to say:
- Buddha, unbelievable, really rare, really wonderful, we would like credit life, liturgical practice and spread the Pure Land way.
Can Faith be born-proof? [4]
One day, 30 monks lived in the jungle to Jetavana, met the Buddha, bowed and sat down to listen. The buddha knows that these monks are capable of attaining Arahantship, but turn to the Venerable Sariputta for the benefit of the faith as follows:
" Sariputta, do you think that faith, when fully developed, can lead to the attainment of no-emptiness?"
- The Blessed One, I do not progress completely by faith in the Blessed One, not due to full development of faith in the Blessed One to achieve the attainment of the Void. But of course, for those who do not know, do not see, are unaware, do not master with reason, with insight, what is Sanh, they must fully develop faith in the Three The new insight can develop insight and attain sublime .
Many mendicants have heard that the Venerable Sariputta has not exhausted all wrong view, because the Venerable has not put all trust in the Buddha. Buddha said:
- Teachers, Sariputta once said no one has not fully developed the five faculties (Credits, Tons, Mindfulness, Concentration, Wisdom) that can be enlightened. But Sariputta does not progress through faith in others, but by virtue of self-preservation the Three Jewels themselves then diligently practice meditation according to Dharma to attain sublime wisdom and liberation . Those who have weak intellect need faith in the Three Jewels to cultivate and develop the five faculties to achieve liberation.
Then the Buddha said shelf:
"The blind do not believe,
"No man made artifacts,
"He who has attained birth,
No longer think good evil,
"No desire for fame,
"The most noble (Dhammapada, verse 97)
The Buddha taught how to build happiness [5]
The second topic of this year's tranquility is the way to build happiness in this life. The Buddha said as follows:
"When Tathagata says life is full of suffering, which is the old dead disease, which is love, society, unexpected ... is to remind those who are passionate, looking for happiness in sensual pleasures Forget about the life of impermanence, of impermanence, of impermanence, of being impermanent, of suffering, of suffering. Like a person with leprosy, they are forced into seclusion in the forest. Whenever it felt itchy, cramped, uncomfortable, he dug a hole, burned dry wood, burned red, and stood at the mouth of the pit with his hands and feet. While doing so he felt very itchy and very happy. By the time he is gone, he returns to normal life. One day he came back to the forest to visit his sick friends. When they came to the side of the coal shed where they were standing, they felt so hot and could not stand it. Peacock-like thrill for people with leprosy, only patients who find pleasure is pleasure. Healthy people stay away .
"Once you realize that life is suffering, those who seek happiness first seek to eradicate suffering. Wanting to eradicate suffering must know the root of it is delusion, lust and persistence. The mistake is the body of impermanence that is common; The mind is impermanent; Craving is painful but fun; Do not know the law of cause and effect. Desire is to be greedy, greedy, wealthy, beautiful beauty, gentle sound, gentle smell, hammered praise, hammer and want to be, okay to hold, but all are impermanent How to keep forever. Adoption is to say that it is true or not, the selfless person that accepts is self, self is self, self is self, accept, accept, accept, accept, accept, accept. . Due to persistent disagreements should have opinions, quarrels,
"Once you know the cause of suffering, you must know how to eliminate it. Desire all deluded, the desire, the persistence is the end of suffering, is the true happiness eternal, is liberated from birth and death . That want to eradicate all delusions, desires, and persistence, must know the Dharma, practice meditation, keep the pure world, learn to live the life of virtue, minority education. People who live according to Righteous Fa (Eightfold Path) will realize true happiness in the present, and progress to the saints from Tu-momentum, Tu-momentum, Anatomy, to A-la-drought and the Buddha. "
Buddha visits layman Sudattà on the bed [6]
After the sermon, Ms. Punnalakkhana, the wife of layman Sudatta Anathapindika, came to pay homage to the Buddha and informed the Buddha that the layman Sudattà had been sick for nearly ten days. He is very sorry to attend this sermon. His illness grew heavier, fearing to see the Buddha before his death.
The next day, Lord Buddha accompanied the two Venerable Sariputta and Ananda to visit Mr. Sudattà. Mr. Sudattà sat on a couch, pale face. Give newspaper :
- Sudattà, he lived a meaningful and happy life. With great generosity, he has done with the suffering of so many people. The singular name of the aunt that people give him is worthy. In addition, he also bought gold for the land, establishing Jetavana monasteries for the monks and novices. There were many opportunities for the Sàvatthi people to study the Dharma. The virtue of maintaining his Dharma is great. He diligently lived the Dharma, creating happiness for himself, his family and for many in society. Now he should rest and heal. Tathagata will ask the Venerable Sariputta occasionally to visit him and guide his study. You should not try to get to the clinic right now, because the move will make you lose a lot of energy.
- Honor the Buddha, I obey you teach.
The Buddha taught Singala virtuous way to be happy [7]
Two weeks later, during the sermon, the Buddha told the audience of Buddha's story of meeting Singal (Thien Sinh). One morning, in the city of Ragagaha, while begging, the Buddha met a young man named Singul standing in the courtyard in front of the house bowed east, west, south, north, above, under the reverence. Buddha approached asking him how to do so. Singala says that since childhood, he was taught by his father every morning to go to the sixth stage. He only obeyed his father, every morning as a prostrate, but do not know what to do.
The Buddha said, "Oh, that is to practice a happy life in the present and in the future.
Oriental teachings are to reflect [8] how to treat parents : Making children in adulthood takes care of parenting, filial piety towards parents, protection of family and family tradition, protection Protect the inheritance property; Make enough funeral when parents pass away. Parents must prevent children from doing evil, encourage children to do good, give children to learn a career, married worthy of children, timely delivery of the children.
Teaching the south is to contemplate how to treat the teacher : To make students respect the teacher, to serve the teacher, eager to study, to serve the teacher, to focus on learning the profession. Teach the teacher to teach his students, their experience, professional teaching; Praise students with familiar friends, career guidance for students in all aspects.
The West is to contemplate treatment of conjugal love: Husband must respect wife, behave equally with wife; Loyalty to his wife, giving power to his wife, jewelry with his wife. Wife must take care of husband and wife, well received her children, loyal to her husband, well preserved common property, clever and agile housework.
Teaching the north is to reflect on how to treat friends : For friends to practice alms, loving speech, compassionate, compassionate, not deceived. If you meet a lofty friend, you must be emotion, protection when in danger, to take refuge in trouble, respect your family.
The bottom line is to contemplate how to treat your partner : Have to hand over the right things; To give them food and adequate wages, to help them cure illnesses, to share special foods for them, to give them occasional leave. The maid must wake up before she is up, go to sleep after the master, self-content with the things given, smartly do the job assigned, bring good reputation for the owner.
The upper course is to contemplate how to treat a sage : There must be a gesture of reverence, a word of reverence, a reverence, open the door to welcome them; Offer them the necessary items. In contrast, the sages should stop them from doing evil, encourage them to do good, mercy them with compassion, teach them what they have not heard, purify what has been heard, only show moral path Of the saint.
But to know the basic condition of the treatment is to preserve the five precepts (no killing, no greed for stealing, no sexual misconduct, no lying, no drunk), should not act because greed, Because of anger, fear, or delusion while not having enough decisive factor . Also, avoid the six kinds of actions that can lead to a bad luck: drinking alcohol, roaming the city late at night, going to gambling places, Hang out with bad friends, and be lazy. This Singal, he has to worship the six directions with such reflection is really meaningful and beneficial, because that action can bring him real happiness in life.
The Buddha says: True happiness is possible in this life , if we know:
1- Choose a career that is beneficial to many people.
2- Close to the good people, with good knowledge.
3- Parenting, caring for children and spouses.
4- Sharing time, material, happiness with others.
5- Gratitude, humility, low desires, know enough.
6- Choose a comfortable living environment for study and healing.
7- Live a pure and noble life.
Lastly, the Buddha exemplifies the example of Sudatta Anàthapindika, a lay follower who has brought happiness to himself, to his family and to many in society in his present life. This good action is also good people will bring beautiful flowers in future generations.
Punnalakkhana, wife of layman Sudattà, moved to tears. She stood on the white Buddha:
- Lord Buddha, the life of lay people is very busy, especially when I inherited a large fortune. I think if you have a normal business, it may be easier to learn. Many times look at the mendicant homeless, no door, no wife, no children, arms hugging bowls on the alpine roads, so leisurely, we wish to live like that. But we have too many responsibilities, too many constraints, do not know how?
- Hey Punnalakkhana, the mendicant has many responsibilities: to learn the Dhamma, to meditation, to respect the rules, to live a homeless life in clean, must dwell day in mindfulness, to propagate Benefit. As a layman who wants to get acquainted with the life of the monk's matriarchate, can apply for the Eightfold Path.
The Buddha taught the Eightfold Path [13]
Or once a month, or once a month, or once every three months, lay people who want to learn to live as monks can go to the pagoda to apply for the Upavàsa to the monk. People life Uposatha world, called the Near cylindrical male or female, to live for a whole day and a night in the temple, Life midday son, practice meditation, walking meditation, to live in dignity, [14] , conscious [15 ] , Need, leisure and peace just like the monks. After a period of one day and one night, they return to earthly life, leaving only the three precepts and five precepts.
Where it is not possible to go to the temple, the layperson may request at least two monks to come to his house to preach, instruct and instruct during the eight days of the eight-day practice.
The Eightfold Path consists of the eight precepts:
1- Not killing lives.
2- Do not steal.
3- Not lewd.
4- Do not lie.

Only Buddha Eightfold Teachings of the Buddha, laypeople that day was very happy.
Sàriputta teaches Sudattà how to meditate on death [18]
Ten days later, Sudatta's illness became severe, Venerable Sariputta and Venerable Ānanda came to visit. Mr. Sudattà lying on the hospital bed. Sàriputta and Ananda sit on a chair beside the bed. Knowing how Sudatta is no longer living, the Venerable Sariputta says to him:
- He Anathapindika Sudatta, he lived a life of noble and useful to the family, to society and to the Dhamma. During the recent lecture at Jetavana, the Buddha praised his merit. Everything is worth doing for you all your life. Now he should calmly listen to me and follow. Hey Mr. Sudattà, you should visualize the following: the eye is not me, the ear is not me, nose, tongue, body is not me .
As the layman contemplated, the Venerable Master continued:
- Now he should continue to visualize the following: what I see is not me, what I hear is not me, what I smell, taste, touch is not me .
Stopped for a while, Venerable Sariputta said gently:
- You should visualize clearly like this: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind is not me; Color, flavor, flavor, touch, dharma is not me; Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, thinking, is not me. Because if I lost one or all of those 18 things, I would still be me, not bad. I am not constrained and limited in these factors .
Stopped for a moment, Venerable Sariputta continued:
- Now you should visualize like this: this body is not me, this painful feeling is not me, this thinking is not me, the transformation of the body and the mind is not involved What comes to me. Birth and death can not touch me. Birth does not make me have, death does not make me lose. I smiled knowing that the true self never gave birth nor never kill .
Practicing here, layman Sudatta smiled. Then suddenly tears ran down his cheeks. Venerable Ānanda asked:
- Mr. Sudattà, why are you crying? Do you regret it? Did you not succeed?
- Sir, I do not regret it. Thanks to many times to hear the Buddha lecture, so today I reflect very successfully. But I was so touched that over the past 35 years I have been serving the Blessed One and being close to the Venerable Masters, I have never experienced the profoundly profound teaching of today.
- He Sudatta, disciplines shop 18 Sex Discrimination and shop Prajna is the mendicants and female mendicant often heard the Buddha teaching always.
- Dear Venerable, please be clear with the Buddha to allow laypeople to hear to understand and practice this profound teachings.
The layman Sudatta Anàthapindika died that afternoon. Two Venerable Sariputta and Ananda stayed on for a very long time. According to the sutras, after the last breath, Sudattà was reborn in the Tusita sky and returned to the Jetavana monastery that night with a light, flexible, revered body. . Mr. Sudattà has three daughters: Mahà Subhadda, Culla Subhadda and Sumana, and a single son, Kala. All results are Tu-dà-complete, Sumana alone results in Tu-momentum.
The war between Magadha and Kosala [19]
The 38th holiday season has just ended, the mendicants have not been able to preach the French missionary war broke out between Magadha and Kosala. The Magadha, personally led by King Ajatasattu, crossed the Ganges near the town of Benares into Kosala. The party of Kosala, after being informed by the border guard, King Pasenadi was also in charge of the Kaisers. The army was too urgent, the king did not promptly announce and retired Buddha. The king asked Prince Jeta to see the Buddha to tell everything.
Buddha had been told that after hearing Ajatasattu assassinate his father for the throne, King Pasenadi expressed his opposition by taking back a village of Caesar that ancient King Maha Kosala gave King Bimbisara as retrieval The subject of Princess Videhi. This village has brought to Magadha a tax amount worth a hundred thousand gold each year. King Ajatasattu, who had just taken the throne, wanted to consolidate his prestige in the land as well as foreigners, and then set foot on the battlefield to take back.
Venerable Sariputta informs the mendicant men and women where to practice right there, do not move much during the war. The Venerable also asked the Buddha to stay in Sàvatthi until the situation was quiet.
Two months later, people horrified to hear war minister Kosala has defeated three times at Kasi [20] . The Pasenadi king and the generals must withdraw their garrisons to the capital of Svatthi. The situation is very urgent, thanks to the defense system in Sàvatthi very solid. King Ajatasattu's forces pursued and attacked day and night, but failed to defeat it. Later, General Bandhula applied the tactics of the Elder Dhanuggahatissa [21] , coordinated the reinforcements from the retreat places, lined the battlefield with the ambush troops, crushed the forces of Ajatasattu . King Ajatasattu and his subordinate commanders were all captured with over ten prisoners of war. The number of soldiers remaining, either dying or running away. In addition, the Kosala army captured many of the elephants, horses and vehicles of the enemy.
The war lasted more than six months. The Sàvatthi people were ordered to celebrate the victory. After organizing military and court affairs, King Pasenadi visited the Buddha at the Jetavana monastery. The King told the Buddha of the hardships of the war. The king said that Ajatasattu himself had caused a war so he had to fight for self-defense. The king continued,
- Buddha, Ajatasattu nonetheless by her uncle called station. I can not kill, nor put it in prison. Please teach me how to handle how?
- Sire, around the Great King has a lot of loyal generals and friends, so the Great King won this battle there is nothing strange. But around Ajatasattu there were so many bad elements, so Ajatasattu had gone astray, the government was in turmoil, the army and the people lost faith, so it failed. Tathagata suggested the king should take the feast of King Magadha in the manner of a king treated a king. But the king must also have time to teach Ajatasattu as teaching a nephew. Emphasize the need for good friends and loyal followers. Eventually the king could order a farewell party to take the King of Magadha home. The peace of hundreds depends on the king's ingenuity.
Then the Buddha called a young mendicant named Sìlavat [22] and introduced him to King Pasenadi. Slavat Sashat is a half brother to Ajatasattu, who is very intelligent. At the age of 16 he studied with Venerable Moggallàna, at the age of 20 he sought ordination with the Venerable Master and became a prominent disciple. After the event in the capital Riga, Slavatat was sent by the Venerable Moggallana to the Jetavana monastery for study.
King Pasenadi inquires about the great virtue of Slavs about the royal status of rajagaha. Venerable paid homage to the king to hear what he heard the ear. Venerable said that a person from the capital of Magadha came here last year with the mission to assassinate the great virtue, but the virtue has converted him and his degree of ordination. The other monk is studying in a center not far from the city.
King Pasenadi bowed to the Buddha and returned to the palace. King Ajatasattu was later freed and returned to the country, and was given by King Pasenadi to give the princess Vajirà, promising to return the village of Kàsi, which was given to Magadha by King Mahà Kosala, father of King Pasenadi. With the love of eradication of hatred, King Pasenadi did according to the Buddha's teachings. King Ajatasattu is now both his nephew and his son-in-law.END=NAM MO AMITABHA BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH GIAC TAM.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA PURELAND=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.14/5/2017.
