4- Thirty Three Patriarchs [1]

7. Vasumitra [25] (Ms Tu Manh, The Huu) from -420 to -330

Asvaghosa succeeded in winning the prize, pleading to become a disciple. When the fulcrum was complete, Punyayasa called Asvaghosa to say,

12. Asvaghosa [44] ( Enlightenment ) -270 to -190

- Dear Master, I used to be a Taoist, like quiet. When newcomers came to ask me, I used to be angry, so dying in the cave was nearly a thousand years old. Now meet the author of worship is a god should worship.

- Where else in this mountain?

- Not far from here, north, there is a huge tree, where Nagarjuna often speaks dharma for them. I also often hear.

The Kapimala were waiting for their gathering, and with them they came to the place where the tree was. As soon as he arrived, Nágàrjuna greeted him with joy, saying,

- Where deep forests dark mountain full of wild beasts are so mercilessly here?

- I'm not a noble. Just want to come here to visit the sage.

Nàgàrjuna thought not knowing that this monk was a saint who has been taught the Dharma? The team said:

- Although he did not say, I already know. The importance of ordination is not sacred?

Mr. Nágàrjuna immediately bowed to the disciple. Soon, the Kapimala sent a message to Nagarjuna with the verse:

Non-disclosure,

The theory of real footprint.

Illumination try hidden visions,

Non-ignorant ignorant. [48]

14. Nàgàrjuna ( Nagarjuna ) from -240 to -130

Rahulata told them to take him to the river, to the other side. Arrived, he saw the great virtue Sanghanandi is sitting in the cave entrance. Waiting for 7 days, Sanghanandi new arrival. The team asked:

- He sat so long that his body or mind he intended?

- Body heart is determined.

- Body mind are all star import?

- Although the import without loss of generals. Like gold in the well, when out well, the body of gold is still silent.

If the gold is in the well, when the gold goes out of the well, the gold does not move, what comes in?

- Gold is out, but gold does not move.

- If the gold does not move, when it is out of the well what is it?

- Because gold does not move, so in the well or in the well, gold is still gold.

- This is not true.

- The other is not intended.

- This meaning has fallen.

- That does not mean.

- The other mean not that our meaning.

- I mean that the French do not have me.

- It means that we have because we are not without.

- What do not you mean?

- Because I do not have to make sense of you.

- What sacred saints are not we?

The rule is untrue,

Real heroes irresistible.

17. Sanghanandi [59] (Sangha Nan Hua ) years -100 to -20

According to the Book of Records, he was the prince of King Ratana Vyuha in Sàvatthi. He was born shortly speaking, which often speaks of Buddhism. At 7 years old, he was tired of fun in life, asking his parents permission to leave home. He said shelves:

- How old are you?

- Hundred years old.

- How young are you a hundred years old?

- I do not understand why, I was a hundred years old.

- Do you have a good place?

- The Buddha said that if the birth of a hundred years without meeting the fate of the Buddha, not a birth of a day that understand clearly. (Dhamma, verse 115)

- What do you do for a round mirror?

The child immediately said shelves:

- The Buddhas,

Inwardly foreign.

18. Sanghayasas [63] (Yogacara) in years -50 to +20

19. Kumārata [65] ( Kumarajata ) year -15 to +60

The Kumārata [66] , Brahmin lineage, is a Taksasila [67] ( North Sumatra , Taxila) in northern India. His childhood was cleverer than his so-called "pupil" (Kumāra). Kumārata here follow paganism, naturalism. He had a dog, and when he was done eating, the dog went to the corridor under the curtain. Sometimes it's wet and windy, but it's still there. The family was afraid of it cold, chased away, then it also returned to that place. Mr. Kumaras found it strange to ask the teacher, but did not explain anything. He wished to meet the saints to ask for clarification.

When the Sanghayasas were traveling to Taksasila country, Kumārata's house had a strange air rushing in a circular pattern like an ear ring, saying that this was Mahayana, in the house of the saints. To knock knock on the door. Kumàrata, at the age of 30, asked:

- What are you?

- I am a disciple of the Buddha.

Kumārata, who believe in the outside world, hears of the Buddha, gets frightened, closes the door. The Sanghayasas are waiting a moment, knocking again. Kumārata said:

Knowing the steppe, Kumārata open to welcome. After greeting, Kumàrata asked the dog to question. Sanghayasas said:

Kumàrata immediately dug up the dog lying down, of course the yellow cup was exactly what the dog said. He wholeheartedly respected. Sanghayasas said,

- The Buddha had prophesied that " about 600 years after we have passed, there will be an enlightened one in Taksasila country ." Now I meet you, true to that prophecy.

Kumārata heard that suddenly remember the previous life, please leave the Sanghayasas.

After initiation, group specialized in the teaching Kumarata Khabandha in water [68] (Table Da Jie) in northern India. In the old days, educated in Central India, the meeting with Mr. Jayata (da da Da Da). The transmission of Jayata Lord with verse:

Tanh superiority,

Unexamined signatures,

The works of the Kumārata are composed of: Jataka, Proverbs, Manuscripts, Manuscripts, Revelation, and the 43 verses of the beginning of the Three Noble Truths.

20. Jayata [71] ( daughters ) in years +30 to 100

- Causal cause and effect of good and evil actions can occur in three generations (past, present, future). The only person who only sees the gentle person is prematurely dead, the evil person is alive, the good person meets the good person, the person who finds the good meets the evil, so there is no cause and effect, blame. They do not know that good deeds are always chasing after themselves like shadows with pictures, until forever also do not disappear!

Jayata finished listening. Kumàrata's group continues:

- You have believed in three karmas, namely, body, mouth and mind, but you do not know where  the karma is based on the mistake (ignorance, avijjà, avidya) . Man by mistake in six ways . Because six consciousness is often blinded by six senses. Tanh is the nature of the pure mind, not birth, no creation, no response, no more losers, always spiritual, president. If you know how to counter six consciousness, do not let the six bases deceive; Take the six consciousness return to wisdom, permanent, quiet, then no karma to rely on where to arise . At that time the same person with the Buddhas is no different. All good karmic retribution is a myth .

After listening, Mr. Jayata enlightenment Enlightenment, please become a disciple of Kumàrata.

After being sent to the throne, Jayata's father arrived at Rajagaha (Rajagaha) to spread Buddhism, countless people. At the moment of passing away, the Jayata (suttas) gave Vasubandhu the following verse:

Inferiority speech 

Co-determination of the nature. 

Degradation as the interpretation

21. Vasubandhu (73) (70)

Vasubandhu's disciples were upset, asking:

- What is the method that denied our master?

Father replies:

- I'm not religious, nor crazy; We do not worship Buddha nor contempt; I do not sit nostalgic, nor lazy; We do not eat nor eat food; We do not triathesis nor greed:  Mind does not expect, it is called Dao .

Mr. Vasubandhu finished listening to the emancipation, please follow the Patriarch.

- There are now two Buddhist monks in the country and religious instruction for sentient beings. Previously, the Buddha had prophesied that about 700 years after the Buddha's extinction, there will be two great angels who join the holy monk. These two, one is Madura, the third prince of his Majesty, the second is me, although I am virtuous.

The King heard, allowed the Prince to leave the family. Later, the Vasubandhu Sutras transmitted the Dharma.

23. Haklenayasas [81] ( Haczek Na) 150 - 230

The Haklenayasas are Northern Great Northerners of present-day Afghanistan, the Brahmin lineage, whose father is Thien Thang, his mother Kim Quang. Mr. Thien Thang is old without children, he often went to the temple to offer incense ceremony. One day, Kim Quang dreamed that a god standing on Mount Meru, holding a jade ring, told her "I have come here." When she wakes, she knows she is pregnant.

When Haklenayasas was 7 years old, he went out to play in the neighborhood and saw people killing animals in a shrine. He went straight to the shrine:

- Cleverly imposes the blessings that deceive the people, consumes the people and harms the life of animals too much!

He finished the ceremony, just came out, the shrine collapsed. The people in the village called him a saint. In the 20 years old Buddhist monk, hidden in the jungle for 9 years, befriended with flocks and special recitation of the Great Bat Nha. The 40-year-old met Madura (Ma Noosa) and was sent to the throne.

The Haklenayasas of central India, highly respected by King Vesarajjasaga, often invite him to give a sermon to the king.

- You are a monk, but you follow Brahminism. For two years now, your brother and sister remember the night, hoping you to go to the Dharma should ask your father to find a Buddha statue in the house. You hate to bring Buddha statue to the ground, in a corner. Now go home to the Buddha statue on the table, then move the coffin to go.

Simha does the teachings of the teachings, but the coffin can easily be removed.

Shortly after, the father dies. Simha sadly, resounding the words said, came to ask for the team to become a disciple.

One day, Simha asked,

-  White teacher, I want to use the mind, how to do?

-  No place to use mind .

- Did not use mind how to complete the Buddha?

- If you use the mind is not merit. Make the Buddha to be heartless, do not think that you are doing Buddha, so new merit .

Simha is awakened, there arises wisdom. Sour northeast direction, asked:

- What do you see?

- I see.

- What do you see?

- I see white whirl like a horn all over the horizon, there are five black smoke like stairs in the sky to heaven.

- What do you know?

- I do not know, please teach me.

- 50 years after our extinction, there will be a fief in northern India. You should know that.

- Please teach me what to do.

- Now we are old, coming into nirvana. Official label of Tathagata, now handed to you. You should go to another country to refuge, but be careful, pass the Dharma timely, do not let the passage. Hear me say shelves:

Get the mind of nature

Thought impossible.

Simha Bhiksu 24. [83] (Leo Bhikkhu) in 200-280

- I though to this point that the heart is not moving. Determination of people, where it depends.

- So when the fate came here, whether the intention to come together or not, or still in the residence?

- Set the person, not the person set. Although I have to go back to what he usually practice.

- When he goes back, if the intention does not follow him, then who is it? If the intention to follow him is not intended.

- Like his intelligence, in the outside is not covered; When the communication is reached, the back and forth is still not moving.

- If not covered, then how in the outside? If not move, then how to go back and forth? I can not compare with the good oligopoly!

Dharmatrata found himself drowning, immediately submitted, sir:

- I also learn the astrology, if not taught by Sun how to know the ultimate. Bodhisattva begs Bodhi to receive merit as a disciple.

Simha Bhiksu's team teaches:

- The  meditation of the Buddhas is not possessed. The direction of the Buddhas without evidence. Not attainable, not proof that the feet freed . Temple of retribution is the result of karma of the world, in the Dharma would not be like that. You should follow that meditation practice.

One day, the head man named Tinh Hanh led his son to the audience and said:

- White Venerable, my son here Suta (Tu Da). From birth to now, 20 years old, whose left hand is still clenched, never opened. May the Venerable Master speak clearly of his past life to me.

Simha Bhiksu's team looked directly at Suta's face, then reached out, saying:

- Return the grain to me!

Suta left his left hand to raise the grain for Europe. The head and the stuff they see are amazing. The team explains:

- In the past, we are monks, often the Dragon King Long invited to chant. At that time, Suta was named Vasa, also as a guest attendant for me. One day, when the chanting was complete, King gave us a continent to meet. I received it and give it to the store keeper. Then I was born here then. Because teachers are not the end of the teacher should meet again here.

The chief hears about his son's predestined relationship, rejoicing Suta to join the Order. To marry the name of the previous life is Vasa with the current name is Suta to set the law is Vasasuta for his son to assume.

When she was old, she called Vasasuta to come and say:

- This country is going to have an accident for me, but I was weak old hope to escape what to do. Now I handed over the organ of the Tathagata back to you, you should serve. You are out of this land, teaching on duty. Hear me say shelves:

Mind knowledge mind sentence.

Consciousness knowledge,

Tri knowledge vu kim. [85]

Vasasuta obeyed the Patriarchs, arrived in southern India, and continued to remain in Kasmira. At that time the king of Kasmira believed in paganism, ordered the suppression of Buddhism. One day the king asked Simha Bhiksu:

- Has the Buddha left the birth and death?

25. Vasasuta 86 (Xa Tu Da) 240 - 325

Vasasuta's real name is Suta, a native of Kasmira (Ke Tan), a Brahmin family, his father's name is Tinhnhanh, his mother's name is An. His mother dreamed that the sword is pregnant. When he was born, his left hand always held hard. At the age of 20, Simha Bhiksu recalled the story of the previous life, he immediately recalled clearly, please leave the family. The Simha Bhiksu clan transplanted his previous name, Vasa, with his current name, Suta, into Vasasuta, who gave him the dharma, and secretly communicated, suggesting that he should go to southern India.

Leaving Origin, Vasasuta to Central India (Ganga River Valley). King Ca Thang to welcome him. Originally in this country there is an outsider named No-self, very good at magic and discussion, contempt for Buddhism. The king held the conference, the king himself presided. No-self to congratulate the topic, not using words. Vasasuta disagreed, saying:

- If not use words to distinguish than lose?

- No more fight than lose, just take charge.

- What is meaning?

- No mind is meaning.

- You did not mind where did the meaning?

- I say not mind, is the name does not mean.

- You say not mind is the name does not mean; We say noni is the meaning is not the name.

- The meaning is not the name, then what is the meaning?

- You say is not a name, what is the name?

- Because of the unjust meaning should not name that name.

- Name has no name, the meaning is also meaningless. Who is the defender and what equipment?

Discussing this over 50 times, the new pagan speech, submits. Suddenly there was a strange scent in the palace, Suddenly said:

- My second child worship Buddhism, doing good work, why are chronic diseases, so how to cure evil evil?

- Prince's disease is due to merit. This deep-seated Monarch must hear well. The Buddha taught people who have heavy body in the body, such as severe internal trauma, taking drugs is not effective, dying disease as raging. If you are mild, mild disease, see the drug immediately, reduce and then strong. Heavy workers, even with merit can not do anything, until the near death of the more detectable. Light work, do the merit, karma before the show, pay later will be quietly calm.

"At present, the prince doing good deeds for a long time, must be attributed to the merits should be issued mild karma. Currently small size, later will be secure. The sutra says, "If you have to suffer the karmic effects of the three evil paths, you will have to pay off your life in order to be born without evil."

King Thien Duc heard finished, believe in receiving, more and better working mind good luck. Vasasuta retired from the king, traveling elsewhere.

Sixteen years later, King Thien Duc ice. Crown Prince Duc Thang to the throne, believe in pagans, problem Vasasuta. Prince Punyamitra (Immolate) to arrest, was arrested by the king. The king wanted to assign the sinister Savior to kill. But when Vasasuta argued with morality, the king was persuaded by the Patriarchate, so that he would repent, worship and release the Patriarchate. Prince Punyamitra was ordered by the king to ordain Vasasuta. After 6 years, Vasasuta called Punyamitra to say:

26. Punyamitra 88 - 388

- Remember the old?

The Patriarch said to the king:

- This pupil is the reincarnation of the Great Bodhisattva Bodhisattva, born to connect legal France. After that I will have two great men born, pre-teacher in South India, the latter is predestined to Chan Dan (China), but only nine years and then returned to the country.

The group turned to say to Anh Lac:

27. Prajnatara [92] (Prajna Sutra ) in 360 - 460

28. Bodhidharma [94] ( Bodhidharma ), First Patriarch in China, 440-552

Prajnatara asked:

- In all species, which one is larger?

Bodhitara replied, I think Buddha Nature is bigger, because it includes all things.

After hearing these two answers, the Patriarch said to the king,

- Your Majesty, Prince Bodhitara is a man of great wisdom, the kind of saint that the Buddha predicted would follow me later.

After the death of the king, Prince Bodhitara requested ordained, the Prajnatara set the Dharma Bodhidharma (Bodhidharma). By the age of 20, Bodhidharma was transmitted by the mind, Prajnatara said:

- Bodhidharma, the Dharma of the Dharma of the Blessed One, commanded Mahà Kassapa Mahà Kassapa to pass to Ananda and pass on to us. I give you back. From now on you are the 28th Patriarch in India. The poet in this country, then to China is a great cause. But wait until we die, about 60 years later will go. If you go early you do not have a good job.

Emperor Liang Wuddou dazed. Bodhidharma Bodhi from the word, retreat. On October 19 th lunar month, the group quietly cross the river, Wei land, stopping at Shaolin Temple, Tung Son Mountain, sitting meditating face cliffs throughout the day and night. At that time he called him Brah Ba Quan.

- You stand all night in the snow, what do you want to work for?

- White Master, I want to study the direction of the Buddhas.

- The teachings of the Buddhas are very profound, mystery. Have to work diligently in many lives, to do the sublime work, to be patient while others can not bear. The mundane, unconcerned, arrogant, unbearable hardship, unable to learn the Dharma. If you really want to learn, show your determination.

Than Quang cut his left arm with a knife, the right hand grabbed the wound snow, standing still. Bodhidharma asked:

- You have cut your hands to express determination. So what do you want to learn?

- Master, I would like to hear the Dharma of the Buddhas.

- The Dharma of the Buddhas can not "give thanks to whom we are" [96] .

- Master, my heart is not secure, please feel free for me.

- Where are you? Take it, I am safe.

He thought for a moment and said,

- White Master, I seek forever without my heart!

- I have peace of mind for you then.

Than Quang Quang was enlightened, knelt down bowing, as a disciple, by the legal team is Hui Fei.

After nine years, at the end of September in the year of 529, the group wanted to return to India, he called four large disciples to ask:

- I will return to Thien Truc, you say your place for me to try.

- Master, great virtue Deputy Director (Deputy Director) said, according to the child thought,  want to understand the Dao should not be based on the script but also should not leave the letter [98] .

- You were my skin, I answered.

General teacher, according to the understanding of the child,  such as An Nan see A Buddha Animal [99] , only seen once, no longer see . (All is false).

- You got my flesh.

White Master, Taoism said,  I see the four elements are not, five aggregates are not real. According to me, no one can be . (No ownership, no wealth).

- You got my bones.

At his session,  Venerable  Hui Kha stepped out to bow to the Patriarch, then retired to silence (Inconceivable, indescribable). Hui said,

- You have my marrow.

The Bodhidharma Bodhisatta immediately passed on the message to HH. The Patriarch said:

" In addition to all predestined end (5 units purity)

" In thinking bat (pure consciousness)

" Mind like a wall (mind moving)

" It is the Tao .

" The Buddha's Mind ( Tong Chon know, Chon Tanh)

"Do not be wrong.

" Get to know each other

Giang dung pearl dung,

The needle outburst.

The five groups together,

29. Hui Koo ( 103) (Hoei Keu), the Two Bands in China in 487-593

After the Bodhidharma Patriarchate passed away, Hui Hao went to Northern China to transmit the Dharma. In 556, at the Quang Phuoc pagoda, one day, a layman of 40, did not say their name, bowed to the Patriarch and said,

- The body of my son has long sores, treatment is not always good. I've had many sins before, I begged you to forgive me.

Bring your sin here, I will repent.

- Great Teacher, I seek sin, I do not see anywhere.

- I have penalized you for that. But you should take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha.

- The disciple now sees him as knowing the Sangha. But do not know what is the Buddha and the French?

- Mind is Buddha, it is French. Buddha and France are not two. Do you know?

- Now students know that crime is not in, not outside, not in the middle block. Mind too, Buddha and the French too. So Buddha and France are not two.

Hui Hao heard, very happy, immediately go home, and said:

"You are my treasure, and I will call you Uranus."

After the ordained, the disease of Sang Xan times relieved. The Sangha has been under the patriarchate for  two years . One day, Hui Fei called to rise, said:

- Bodhidharma not far away, from India to here, bringing the Dharma of the Tathagata of the Tathagata passed to me and leave his bowl of faithfulness, now I give you back, you well preserved, do not let ending relationship. Hear me say shelves:

Native hybrid coast,

In the region of flowers.

Futuristic hybrid,

Unripe herons. [104]

And then Hui said:

- You are French, then go to the mountains that are deep, but this time you are not active. There will be a disaster in the country.

- You know everything before, compassion only teach you clear.

- This is not self-talk, but the prophecy of Prajnatara, told by Bodhidharma. After Prajnatara nirvana about 150 years, there will be things like the following verse:

The center of the foreign power,

Vi of poisoned long-life mercenary,

"Regarding the age of your life, you should be careful. We also have the debt owed in the past.

If you want to clear your mind, consider the same thing, when you meet the identity that is not starting thinking, where is the mind is not? Self-bright, often shining world, not a dusty clutter, no rupture .

Again,  layman Orient is a learned writer, does not come to the job title, prefer to live in the deep forest desolate, hungry to eat leaves, thirsty drinking water, making friends with green water to nourish spirit . Listening to Hui Kha is propagating in northern Qi, he wrote the poem to ask:

- White Master,

"According to my opinion, the temporary life, the rich names such as floating clouds, mulberry sea creek; Floating islands like a foam island. What is true, worthy of esteem?

"Because by the shadow of the picture, there is the sound of the birth, chasing the ball, the ligament is known as the origin of the ball; The sound to prevent wine, where the reputation is the origin of wine. Excludes negativity but interest in nirvana, as well as abandon the shape that look for the ball. Leaving beings that pray the Buddha, as well as the sound that resonates.

So know, enchanted a road, no other wise, no name but naming, but that name has no market. No reason that formed the reason, that reason that debates. Illusion is not feet, what is it? What's wrong? Hope is not real, what is not? what ?

"Want to bring the knowledge" that can not be, not lost where " lost to the Master without a chance to meet. Now express this idea, expect Master compassion for.

Hui Hui replied:

- Being considered as real,

Chon U [108] scene of the enemy scene:

Duty calendar calendar calendar,

Natural self-awareness of foot.

Ignorance of the party wisdom,

All things dharma.

Indifferent indigestion,

Body from the pen works poetry.

The body of the Buddha body of any difference,

Ha blessed wings blubbery?

Translation: Layman,

See clearly he sent here,

What is the difference between feet?

Maisonette tiles are tile,

Suddenly aware of the feet.

Ignorance wisdom is not the same,

All things are like, must be tri.

Merchandise and accept,

Borrow a pen to write this poem.

Intimacy with Buddha is not different,

What does nirvana look for?

The layman was the poetry of Hui Fei, finished reading, to pay homage and received the seal.

After that, Hui Hao or plain clothes, sometimes in the bar, sometimes to the butcher, or in the middle of the crowd to lecture, or porter, etc. Some people know, asked:

- You are a monk, why do you do that?

30. Sengcan [109] (Seng Tsan), Tam Organization in China in 517-606

Tai Tong came to the girl's house, took a break for the night, and lost his form early the next morning. That girl is the youngest son of the Chau family. Soon after she was pregnant. Her parents were humiliated, scolded and sent her out. She was young and had to endure a helpless situation in humiliation, helplessness, having to work as a day job. Nine months later, she gave birth to a pretty son. She still endured the patience of raising children, living on the generosity of benefactors. Leaving six years, the baby is smart, intelligent, speechless. Because he does not have a father, people in the neighborhood often call him a boy without them.

- Do you know the teacher Dao Tin?

- Why do you ask him?

- I have heard long honor, longing to come to the ceremony.

- Taoist teacher is wrong here.

- Why did you come here?

France Dung said:

- Mind is full. So what is the Buddha? What is the mind?

- Does not mind do not ask the Buddha. Asking the Buddha is the mind.

- Did not start the customs, when the scene starts, how to counter?

-  Scenery is not good bad. Good bad place in the heart. If the mind does not follow the scene (rupa), where does the love start? The love has not started, the mind knows where to wear feet. You just need to be self-centered, no need to treat, so-called legal dharmic permanent, there is no change . We received this teaching method of the Buddhist monks, now handed to you. You should receive our words carefully, only in this mountain, after five great mercy to continue education.

Patriarch said:

32. Hang Nhan [115] (Houng Jenn), Five Fathers in China 602 - 675

Bodhi life,
