Shakyamuni Buddha Recitation .19.

6th in the 11th at Ekanala, near Ragagaha (-579)

Svastica herd of buffaloes [1]

Before returning to Ragagaha, Buddha visited the village of Uruvelà to visit the Bodhi Tree, where he became a Buddhist. Then the Buddha visited Svastika, an old buffalo who visited and helped him after the five Kondanna brothers left. Svastika is now 20 years old, becoming a muscular young man. Remember the promise in the past, Buddha back here to note, for the monk, get acquainted with Rahula, then the Buddha brought his uncle to Venuvana.
Stepping into the Venuvana mansion, Svastika saw something strange, beautiful, beautiful too. He was led by Rahula introduced to the mendicant. Although he was three years older than Rahula, he found himself needing to learn a lot from Rahula, from walking, talking to doctrine, meditation, walking meditation, whatever was new.
One day he was listening to Assaji and Ananda telling the Buddha's practice over the past ten years. He heard passionately. Together with uncle Gotamì and Rahula. Master Ānanda has incredible memory. You reminded so many things that Mr. Assaji forgot to mention. Svastika very much admired Assaji and Ananda, and was very fond of n monks Gotam and Rahula. Without these four, how can you hear the story of the Buddha? I hope from now on you will be close to the Buddha to learn directly with people from the doctrine to the way of living and how to treat others.
Though born as a buffalo, Svastika also has a bit of knowledge and understanding. It is the work of Sujàtà [2] , the daughter of Commander Seniyì in Uruvelà village. Sujàtà has taught Svastika to read and write since he was nine years old. For the past few years I did not study with you anymore because you grew up and you have to go with your husband to Nàdika village, south of Vesalia.
Although Rahula was only seventeen years old, he was not ordained as a monk, but he was well versed in the majesty and virtue of a monk. Svastika is very happy to have Rahula next to him and remind him. Anything not yet understood, then he asked Sariputta teacher, Assaji teacher or teacher Ñnanda. Rahula tells Svastika:
Discipline of novices (Samanera) called  Elementary Gender (Pabbajja) only ten is no killing, no stealing, no lust, no lie, no alcohol, no makeup or perfume, not Lying or sitting on a large high chair, no dancing, no money, no food after lunch. The law of bhikkhu , also known as  monasticism, [3] contains some of the majesty and virtue, but perhaps even increased. World first four called  essential world (Parajika, Balaam di) , mendicants have committed to the monks no longer an addition, as well as when a palm tree being cut tops are not sprout again. Four realms are: not lewd, not robbed, not murdered,
Rahula told Svastika that in the early years there were no precepts but that the mendicant congregation still has nothing to regret. The ordination ceremony is simple, just kneeling at the feet of the Buddha or at the foot of a mendicant, read three times three refuge Buddhist Dharma was officially became a monk. Now want to ordained, must volunteer to receive and practice the precepts. The number of ordained people has become so large that there are no self-conscious elements, so the new precepts are set to remind and preserve the Buddhist monk is pure heart.
Up to now, there are only samadhi, dharmas, dhyana, dhammas, dhammas, and some other precepts of almsgiving, sedentary ... whenever a mendicant does something contrary to In the spirit of enlightened enlightenment and liberation, the congregation is called again, and a new law is added to the Precepts called Pātimokkha (Pratimoksa, Bala.

Buddha teaches buffaloes [4]

Today it is cool, after the meal, the mendicants quietly go to wash their bowl, then spread out around the surroundings sitting around the Buddha. Venuvana has many squirrels. They are around the teacher, not afraid. Many squirrels climbed up bamboo stalks, looking down. Seeing Rahula sitting right in front of the Buddha, Svastika also crept to spread her arm around Rahula and sit down seriously. The atmosphere is solemn. No one told anyone, but Svastika knew that everyone was watching the breath while waiting for the Buddha to open his instructions.
The Buddha sat on a bamboo mat, several inches taller than everyone else. He sat down and majestically like a lion sitting in a lion's lion. He glanced swiftly at the crowd, looking at Svastika and Rahula, and he said,
- Today Tathagata will tell you about the topic of buffalo herding, and what a good baby buffalo. Please listen. A good baby buffalo baby is a baby that identifies each of his buffalo easily. Know the shape of each child, know how to rub the buffalo, care for the wounds of buffaloes, know how to burn mosquitoes and mosquitoes, know how to find a safe way for buffaloes, know how to love buffalo, choose where It is safe for buffalos to wade through the river, to know where there is fresh grass and clean water for buffaloes, how to maintain buffalo stockings, and how to make large buffaloes for small buffalos.
"Good teachers, good deeds must do the same. If the buffalo baby knows how to recognize his buffalo, then the monk  must recognize the 32 components that make up his body [5] .
"If a buffalo baby knows the form of every buffalo, then the monk  must know what actions of the body, mouth and mind are worth doing or not worth doing .
"If you know how the baby buffalo bathing buffalo clean for the home people also  have to know how to let go and wash off the body and mind of greed, ignorance and resentment sulky .
While the Buddha said these words, Svastika felt that he was the inspiration of the Buddha in his teachings today. I remember more than ten years ago, he was sitting at the Buddha every hour, and the Buddha has meticulously asked about the work of buffalo herding and cutting grass. As a royal prince born, how can the Buddha know so much about buffalo farming if he does not tell you all about it? The Buddha continued:
- If the herd of buffaloes care for the wound to the buffalo, the monk must also  know to preserve his six bases are eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind for purification without six pollutants .
"If a buffalo baby knows how to handle mosquitoes, then the monk  must know how to bring the teachings of liberation to those around them so that they can avoid physical and mental suffering .
"If the buffalo baby knows how to find a safe path for the buffalo, the monk  must know the other paths to the Noble Eightfold Path and the paths of fame, lust, and school ... should be avoided .
"If the buffalo baby loves buffaloes, then the monk must also  practice compassion and the Chinese [6] .
"If the buffalo baby to choose a safe place to wade the buffalo cross the river, the monk must also  use the Four Noble Truths to bring beings from the delusion to the shores .
"If the buffalo baby knows where to find fresh grass for the buffaloes, then the renunciator must also  know how to practice the four foundations of mindfulness in order to liberate oneself .
"If a buffalo baby keeps buffalo buffalo maintenance, the monk should also  be careful, reserved in public contact and donated .
"If the buffalo baby knows how to use large buffaloes as models for small buffaloes, then the monk must also  rely on the virtues and experience of the foregoing masters .
"Teachers, a mendicant who practices according to the instructions given above, can attain Arahantship within six years of study.
The young sorcerer Svastika was exotic. What he said to the Buddha over ten years ago, he remembered all, and also applied to the study of the marshal again. Although the Buddha is teaching common teachings for the masses, Svastika has the impression that the Buddha is teaching his own, so he hardly hear and remember every word of the Buddha. There are specialized terms such as "six bases", "six ceiling", "four noble", "
In the afternoon, Svastika asks Rāhula about the nouns in the discourses of the Buddha Dharma at noon, and by the way he asks:
- Rahula, sitting meditation  must sit like ? And how do you meditate while sitting in meditation ?
Rahula only Svastika using  specific coordinates [7] (nisadana) and  omit [8] (asanas), sitting  half lotus and  lotus . Then he continued:
- On  the use of mind while sitting meditation, there are six main methods called  Lua Dien Phap Mon : 1- News, 2- Payment, 3-Only, 4-Quan, 5- Finished, 6-Net.
Book News (anapana sati) is the control center use the breath as you like her, at first rough economic time later. Breathe in with a strong and long nose and then stop. During apnea, counts from one to 10, 20 or 30, both using the idea of putting oxygen on the brain, and then exhaling through the mouth as strong and long as the deflated rubber bubble. Do it 10 or 20 times. Technique is inhalation with a long, quiet nose, pause for a moment, then exhale with a mild and long mouth without sound, counting 1. The second counts 2, and so on 30 or 50 times. While breathing, keep your mind at ease. French news to purify the air in the body and make the seat balanced, solid; In addition to the five except the hindrances, [9] purify the anxiety in the mind.
Adjustment is also in the news but only use the mind to watch the free breath in and out with the nose according to the needs of the body, the mouth sucked, the tip of the tongue curved up the upper jaw for easy entry into the nose. . Know the breath out, in, at stop. If the saliva in the mouth is swallowed in the stomach very well because it is very nutritious. Dhamma immediately makes the mind and body relaxed comfortably.
Only (Samatha) is the abolition of defilements and delusions by concentrating one's thoughts on the body, such as the top of the head, the third, the tip of the nose, the heart, the navel, the palms of the hands. Go out as freely as practiced immediately. While practicing Only, if there are deluded thoughts or afflictions that can not be ruled out, then turn to the object of that illusion or perplexing thought. For example, delusion is the thought of the house, that is, the object of the illusion is the house, then we should eat the house is born to kill, impermanent, not self-nature, or cause rebirth, So we should be boring, glasses, glass, deduction, should not think of the house anymore.
Shop (vipassana) is to observe all things are impermanent, students, office, horror, kill, and problems in that vulnerable affliction and suffering. Or learn about catechism as the Four Noble Truths [10] . Or practice the Four Foundations of Mindfulness [11] . Or practice Ngu Dinh Tam Quan [12] . Or practice the Nine Commentaries [13] ...  The goal of the Quan is to receive the three doors of liberation: impermanence, not self and nirvana . Impermanence is that all things are born and gone, always changing. Anatta is that all things are without true nature. Nirvana is the purpose of the practice to eliminate negativity and delusion to calm, peace, calm and liberation. After the Quan to turn to complete to see if his mind was removed from the idea or sorrow . For example, after returning home (Complete) home remarks whether the idea of home in mind. If not, continue to House; If the deduction is already terminated, then switch to Net.
Complete your mind to see whether there are any delusions or defilements. If you still have to continue to shop for minus; If you see all delusions, negativity then move to Pure Land.
Pure is Hui and Equanimity, not just Not Quan, keep calm, peace, calm, not thinking, while still breathing according to custom. Thanks to not think so no birth defilements. At first unfamiliar, it should be maintained to keep the mind pure.
"Hey Svastika,  practice meditation (jhana, dhyana) is a method of keeping the mind not to run or entangled six ceiling [14] . Zen consists of Just and Quan. Just Samatha to be Samadhi. Vipassanà to gain wisdom (Panna, Prajna). It is also necessary to keep sila (Kamma) to get Kamma (karma). Gender, Dhyana, Tue are three classes of learning, three subjects must be diligent practice, the essence of the Dharma . Practitioners of Zen, depending on the level of progress from meditation, second meditation, meditation to meditation. Higher is not boundless, unconditioned origin, non-possession of land and non-non-non-non-non-origin. But nirodha samàpatti (nirodha samàpatti) is truly liberated, free of dangers and ego.
Svastika suddenly breathed out, thinking of the path of her training is too long. Rahula understood, then said:
- Brothers do not hurry. So if you know how to do the right thing, it will work very well. Brother do not remember? By noon, the Buddha said that any mendicant who cultivates as a good baby buffalo, only six years can attain Arahantship.
Svastika grasped Rahula's hands in his hands. He nodded, saying:
- I will try, I will try. I am very fortunate to have a brother next door to remind and just tell me.

The Buddha taught novice Rāhula morality [15]

Rahula tells Svastika that the Buddha teaches him very strictly, even though he knows the Buddha's name very well. When he was 11 years old, when he was in Ambalatthikà (Wenquan), there were some times he played a joke by taunting people to find the Buddha: As the Buddha was in Venuvana, he said Buddha in Griddhakùta ( Gijjhakùta, Spiritual), at the Buddha's time in Griddhakùta, he said Buddha in Venuvana to those people have to go back and forth. Or the Buddha from the Venuvana monastery to the Ambalatthikà forest to find Rahula. Rahula above the seat for the Buddha sitting, then take the basin to draw water for the Buddha to wash his feet. Washed his feet, Buddha poured water but still retain some water in the brass. Buddha looked at Rahula asked:
- Rahula, are there more or less water in the brass?
- Lord, the water in the bat is very little.
- Rahula, you should know the liar, the good is not left as much, less water in this.
Buddha again poured water out of the bamboos and asked:
" Rahula, do you see me pouring out the water in the basin?
- Yes, I see.
- For those who continue to lie, good will be lost as a brass no water.
The Buddha turned his face away and asked:
- Rahula, do you see the brass bump?
- Buddha, I have seen.
- If we do not practice right speech, our personality will also be turned upside down like this one. Rahula, you should be careful to keep your words, not to lie to play. Do you know what the mirror is for?
- Yes, the mirror used to shine his face.
" Rahula, I must also observe your actions, my thoughts, my words as a mirror." You always have to ask yourself whether your actions, words, thoughts are good for you, for you, for both of you, for being good. Whenever you do a good deed you should rejoice. Whenever you have done a bad thing, you should know how to repent. That is the practice of the body language for his more and more purity that child.
Every month, on the full moon day and the new moon day, all the mendicants must gather for the bodhisattva ceremony. The rules are read, and the public is asked whether there is a crime or not. If the masses keep silent then no one breaks. If someone breaks up, he stands up to say his fault (to reveal) to repent (please leave). Except for the parājika (pāramitā, pāramitā) faults of the offender, it is automatically expelled, and other errors can be repented.
Having heard Rahula, Svastika is aware of the importance of morality for a mendicant.

Attending is also labor and production. [16]

Buddha entered the 11th at Ekanala Hill, in the village of Dakkhinagiri, south of Ragagaha. Here is Kasi Bhàradvàja:
"One time, the Buddha was at Ekanala Hill, in Dakkhinagiri village, a Brahmin village of Magadha. At that time, 500 plowmen working for Mr. Brahmin Kasi Bhradrad were about to land. The Buddha carries the bowl to the place where the food is distributed and stands aside. Brahmin Kasi Bhradrad saw that:
" Honor, I plow and sow, so I can eat. He too, this author, he should also plow and sow seeds to eat.
- Mr. Ba-la-subjects, Tathagat also plowed and sowed so. Having plowed and sowed, now Tathagata is eating.
- But do I see the plow, the yoke, the plowshares of the religion? I do not see the cow or the whip of Gotama. The author claims to be a farmer, but we do not see the plains of the religion. So let us know where we are.
- Faith (saddha) is the seed, discipline (tapo) is the rain, wisdom (panna, prajna) is the yoke and plow, modesty (hiri) is rolled plow, mind (mano) is the reins, and The concept (sati) is the plow and the whip.
"The Tathagata is alive with six soulful souls, righteous deeds and speeches, and eating in abundance. Tathagata has used the truth to cut the weed sticks. Achieving the ultimate goal is to open the cows (liberation).
"Effort (viriya) is a heavy carrier that brought Tathagata to a state of calm (Nirvana). No defilement, direct, direct, never come back. That, the Tathagata's plow has done so. Its result is an immortal state of being. Having finished dragging this plow, no longer sorrow sad again.
Upon hearing this, the brahmana Kasi Bhradradja filled a bowl of rice mixed with milk to the Buddha and said:
- May the goddess Gotama bowl rice milk mix this. The author was indeed a farmer because he had planted an "immortal" fruit tree.
- The material received by the teaching is not appropriate for the Tathagata. Brahmin, that is the practice of the Great Enlightenment. The Transfiguration can not use that food. If you want to donate, please come another day.
The landlord was very adventurous, fell to the Buddha and asked to be ordained, shortly after attaining Arahant. "

The Buddha taught Rahula to keep mindfulness while begging [17]

After the 11th, the Buddha went to the northwest. At the end of that fall, the Buddha arrived at Sàvatthi. This is the first time Svastika went to Jetavana. You see the beautiful and very comfortable rooms for study. The scene was fresh but the climate was warm. Seeing Svastika, every teacher greeted cheerfully knowing that he was the cause of the Buddha saying the Brahms at Venuvana.
One morning, while hugging the begging bowl behind the Buddha, Rahula lost consciousness [18] (sammà sati). While still following everyone, his mind is thinking of something else. I wonder if the Buddha did not go to the ancient days do not know what Buddha is doing and what he is doing now. I have heard that when the Buddha was born, there were prophets who predicted that if the Buddha did not cultivate, he would become a cakkavatti, a great emperor who had extensive power over many kingdoms. Do not know how the life of a holy cot death? And if the Buddha do the rotation of the Holy King, what are you doing? Looking forward to the Buddha, he thought the body of Buddha, my father, so majestic beautiful, my body is also beautiful. As he was thinking about stepping, His breath and gait are no longer in the majesty. Strange, the Buddha went ahead and he felt that. Buddha knows he lost mindfulness. He stopped walking, came back. All the mendicants also stopped walking. Buddha told Rahula:
- Rahula, do you watch the breath and maintain mindfulness?
Rahula at the end, silent. The Buddha taught:
- Want to dwell in mindfulness, they must maintain a conscious breath. While begging, we must practice meditation. We can observe the impermanence of the elements that make up all beings, namely, form, feeling, perception, volition and consciousness. Regardless of the beautiful or ugly body, or any other way, I must also observe this : " This is not mine (N'etam mama); This is not me (N'eso 'ham' asmi); this is not my self (Na me than Āttā) " [19] . If one maintains conscious breathing, then one can practice meditation with results and not lose sight of mindfulness.
Having said that, the Buddha turned around and continued walking. Booked, everyone is paying attention to the breath to maintain mindfulness. But a moment later, Rahula separated from the ranks of the almsgames, and sat down under a tree in a forest roadside. Seeing this, Svastika also left the ranks and followed Rahula. Seeing Svastika approaching, Rahula says:
- Brother went on alms with the teachers. I do not have any heart to go begging again. I was just rebuked by the Buddha before the mass loss of mindfulness. I have to spend the whole day practicing meditation. I'm very embarrassed.
Unable to do anything, Svastika left Rahula, returned to join the mendicants. On the way back, Venerable Sariputta and Svastika visited the forest to welcome Rahula to the clinic. Svastika shared his appetite for being in Rahula's bowl. After the meal, the teacher Sariputta asked Rahula to see the Buddha. Svastika begs to be followed.

The Buddha taught Rahula the virtues of the four [20]

Knowing the mind of Rahula mature, able to accept the teachings of liberation, the Buddha taught Rahula cult following the virtues:
" Rahula,  study the earth ." Although people pour and spray on the soil clean and beautiful things such as flowers, perfume and fragrant milk, or people pour dirty stinky things like feces, urine or blood, or people spit On the ground, the land also received all of these things calmly, not happy glad nor disgusted humiliation. Also,  when feelings of pleasure or sadness arisen, do not let them disturb your mind and take over your child .
"Rahula,  learn the virtues of water . When people wash dirty things in water, water also does not feel so humiliated, sad and depressed. Also, when feelings of pleasure or sadness arisen, do not let them disturb your mind and take over your child .
You should learn the way of fire . Fire burns everything, including dirty things, so fire does not feel so humiliating, sorrowful and boring. Also,  when feelings of pleasure or sadness arisen, do not let them disturb your mind and take over your child.
You should also learn the virtues of the air . The air can contain and dissolve the odors without feeling humiliated, sorrowful and bored. Also,  when feelings of pleasure or sadness arisen, do not let them disturb your mind and take over your child .

Buddha Rahula cultivate Compassionate discharge [21]

Then the Buddha said,
- Rahula,  you practice the word metta to counter anger . Kindness is love for all beings, always thinking of how to bring joy to others, no conditions, no response.
Please cultivate compassion (karunà) to counter kill . Compassion is the love of all living beings, always thinking of how to deal with suffering in others, not conditionality, no response.
You should also cultivate the heart (mudità) to counter jealousy, jealousy. Happiness is the love of all beings, happy with the joy of others, happy to see others succeed, happy.
And you should also cultivate upekkhà to resist persistence, selfishness, discrimination. Long Drain is not bigotry center right / wrong, right / wrong, love / treatment, or / unloading, good / bad ... Long Drain is not ego mind, goodness, being, false life [22] . Equality is the center of equality between all living things. Righteousness is the mind of openness and openness that brings us peace, calm and liberation.
Rahula, compassion, compassion, joy, equanimity are four great minds without boundaries, and also beautiful not together. That is called the  Four Mindfulness . According to this practice, we become a cool stream that brings energy and joy to all living things.

The Buddha taught Rahula contemplation of impermanence. [23]

The Buddha paused for a moment, then said,
- Rahula, if you want to enter the realm of eternal immortality, then you must practice impermanence except the law and the ego. You should elaborate on each of the elements that make up our body [24] , each of which constitutes our mind [25] , each of which makes up any object to realize that there is not any Any element, no matter how small, no object, no matter how big, can escape the stages of the city, the pillars, the no. All of them are constantly changing according to the conditions of each time. All are impermanent.
"Once you have realized so deeply the impermanence of all things in the world, your mind will no longer desire the fame of worldly possessions, no longer engulfed in worldly pleasures. Now is the time when you start walking on the path of liberation .

The Buddha taught Rahula to contemplate breathing [26]

Stopped a moment, Lord Buddha continued:
- Rahula, every day I also have to diligently practice breathing contemplation to keep mindfulness, to mind and body peace. Every time we breathe in we know that we are breathing in, every time we breathe we know we are breathing out. While focusing on the breath like that, I get rid of the thought, the disturbed thoughts of disturbed. The end of mindfulness is that our mind is settled in mindfulness. I know we are breathing, we know that we are awake, we know that we are not attracted, [27] we know that we are staying in mindfulness. That state of mindfulness is the Buddha-nature available in all of us .
"Rahula, mindfulness of breath helps us to keep mindfulness. Living in mindfulness is living in awareness, is living in enlightenment. The longer mindfulness, the greater the enlightenment in which we become clear and grow .
Sitting next to Rahula, Svastika attentively listened to all the Buddha's teachings. I feel joyful joy. This is the second time he listened to the Buddha's teachings deeply in simple words, easy to understand, easy to practice. He began to believe that he was capable of learning, understanding and practicing the results of the Buddha's teachings of enlightenment and deliverance. After the Buddha finished speaking, Rahula and Svastika bowed out. Svastika invited Rahula to sit under a large tree to review the Buddha's teachings and discuss the details to practice. Svastika finds that he also understands Rahula.END=NAM MO AMITABHA BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH GIAC TAM.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA PURELAND=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.11/5/2017.
