Baby donated earthen cake to Buddha bowl [1]
When the Buddha arrived at Venuvana (Truc Lam). The great virtues of Uruvelà Kassapa, Moggallana, Kondanna and nearly six hundred Bhikkhus are happy to welcome them. King Bimbisàra immediately visited the Buddha. Truc Lam atmosphere is very cheerful and lively. In the rainy season, Kondanna and Uruvela Kassapa are well prepared to allow the masses to study. This is the third holiday season since the Buddha's enlightenment in Bodhgaya. The first settlement in Isipatana (Sarnath, Deer Park). Second and third settlements, the Buddha lived in Venuvana.
Before the holiday season, one day Buddha was begging in the rajagaha city, there is a baby playing the land to make bread on the side of the road, I am solemnly happy to hold a donut of earth made offerings to the bowl of the Buddha. The Buddha smiled and complimented the baby for about 300 years to be reborn as King Asoka.
Brahmin Akkosaka defames the Buddha. [2]
One day, while the Buddha was at Venuvana, Brahmin Akkosaka Bhradrad heard that many Brahmins had gone to the Buddha, and he was angry at the Blessed One and blamed him badly. The Buddha listens calmly, then says,
" Brahmin, have you ever come to visit your relatives?"
- Why did you ask me that? My family always has friends and relatives to visit me.
- Brahmin, when there are relatives to visit, he brought food and drink out to invite them?
- Of course, whenever guests are welcome to my house decorum.
- But if the guests do not receive, do not share, not use the food and drink, then who belong to whom?
- Of course, these things still belong to me. He asked something strange?
- Likewise, the Brahmin, he defames us but we do not defame him; He scolded us but we did not scold him; He brought anger to us but we did not, do not share his anger; So those things still belong to you, you keep taking them and use them.
Foreign miners dig fire fire Buddha [3]
Prajña Kassapa, an exorcist, plotted with a devotee at Ràjagaha, dug a tunnel in front of his house, under the basement to burn red coal, Mom's life. The Buddha accepted. When the Buddha and the saints arrived, the fire pit turned into a beautifully beautiful lotus pond, the huge lotus flowers jutting out into a bridge for the Buddha and the saint to pass through.
Mahà Kassapa is a monk [4]
During the resting season there were many monks asking for ordination. Among them is a brilliant talent Mahà Kassapa.
Mahà Kassapa is about the same age as the Buddha, whose real name is Pippalayana, also known as Pippalimànava, because his mother was born under the tree of Pippala, the village of Mahātittha, Rajagaha, a family of wealthy elders, Brahmins. Father named Kapila (Mistress, Niet Kiem Ly Daddy), mother named Huong Chi. In childhood, he was very clever, elegantly dressed, full body yellow, radiating far away. Some see the generals said: "This child in the past has great merit, will later be released later." His parents heard the fear, the same table will get married to him soon.
As they grew up, their parents took care of the housekeeper, but he refused. Lastly, he reluctantly said: "There is a girl who body color like children, new baby". In 607 BC, he had to obey his parents, married to Bhadda (Dieu Hien), a native of Sàgala village near Vesalia, whose yellow body shone like him. But both of them do not like the spousal love, just prefer to live a pure life, pure. Although they are husband and wife but 18 years old still have their own bed, not sharing the pillow.
In the morning -589, when one awoke, Mahà Kassapa saw Bhadda asleep, one arm let loose from the bed down to the ground. A black poisonous snake crawled under the bed, near the arm. Mahà Kassapa held her breath and took her hand to her bed. She woke up and blamed him for not feeling well. He pointed to the snake crawling out of the house. Both of them sat in contemplation of the impermanence of life. She advised him to rush to find teachers. He left the house to find the right teacher on the day the Buddha was justified.
One day, in -587, while seeing the Buddha sitting at the Bahaputta temple 5 in the middle of the road from Ragagaha to Nàlanda, he walked in front of the Buddha's name. Two people have met each other immediately recognize the teacher. Only eight days after his ordination, he attained Arahantship. Among the disciples of the Buddha, he was famous for the first- tier [6] , and ranked among the third of the ten great disciples of the Buddha, after Sariputta and Moggallana. ). In the year -585, after the Buddha allowed the queen Pajāpati Gotamì to ordain and establish nuns, Bhadda also sought ordained, later also attained Arahant.
Buddha Sudattà Anàthapindika (Anathapindika) [7]
The third resting period has just ended three days, there is a very wealthy young businessman, Sudatta, from the capital Kosala of Kosala to the trading capital of Magadha rajagaha. Like every time before, he came to stay at the house of his brother-in-law Santana (San Da Na). Instead of being warmly welcomed as always, this time Mr. Santàna is constantly in charge of cleaning the house, cooking very busy things, to prepare a big party. Sudattà asked to know the next day in the house where the Buddha and the monks came to live, the Buddha is living in a cluster of forest Sìtavana (Forest Mat) nearby. Mr. Santana told him that, thanks to his frequent visits to the Venuvana monastery, he understood that the Buddha was the Enlightened One, and that Buddhism was the Way of Compassion to free beings from suffering suffering from samsara by means of meditation and thanks. Practice the world, concentration, wisdom.
Mr. Sudattà is a great benefactor, often bringing money to help the many poor people who should be called Anàthapindika. Hence, having heard of the Enlightened One in his heart, he had aroused a strange interest, he wholeheartedly expected to see the Buddha. Because he was so hungry to see Buddha so he could not sleep that night. He had been waking up two times, thinking it was already morning. For the third time he decided to wake up to change clothes, go to the forest Sìtavana to meet Buddha. In the middle of the street, suddenly, he noticed his body emitting light. He stabbed fear, want to return, the light immediately disappear. Then there is the voice of Skavaka's prayer to encourage him as follows:
- Hundreds of elephants or, hundreds of good horses, hundreds of carts, hundreds of thousands of women wearing full market gold ring nor a fraction of a step in this time. Come on! Come boldly! Keep going better return.
Encouraged, Sudatta fainted fear, brave step forward, faith returned pure. The light from his body was born again. Great grandfather. Light lost. Sìvaka recommends again. The light came out again. After the third time, he came to the forest Sìtavana, at the Buddha's walking. Suddenly Sudatta heard his name, he saw the form of a man coming. He believed it was the Buddha. He folded his hands and asked:
- Blessed get up early too. Blessed are you happy?
- Surely always happy, the Buddha replied. Because in the heart of an arahant, all the fire is extinguished. No more entangled with desire. Completely cool. It has eliminated all spawn seed birth. Cut off all nuisance constraints. Tame all the suffering and afflictions. An arahant mind is always peaceful and relaxed in the realm of Nirvana.
Then the Buddha sermon under the class of alms, keep the world, the heavens, the harm of the sex, the benefit of the glass. Upon seeing his mind Sudattà is ready to receive the Dhamma, the Buddha continues to preach suffering, practice, kill, Dao. After listening to the sermon, Sudattà attains the Sotàpatti and realizes that all that has arisen will be destroyed. He collapsed down at the Buddha's feet and petitioned:
" The Blessed One, the people of Kosala, we have not had the opportunity to meet the Buddha and the congregation to hear the Enlightened Dharma. I pray that the Buddha accepts his invitation to reside in his hometown of the capital of Sàvatthi [8] for a while. I will try to make arrangements for the Blessed One and the congregation to have a place of religious practice convenient according to his instruction. Please pray to the Blessed One for mercy to the people of Kosala.
- Tathagata mercy all sentient beings. You may choose to stay quiet, spacious, outside the city but not far away so that the mendicants easy to enter the alms-gathering and easy to hear the place.
Mr. Sudatta obeys and prostrates.
At noon, after the ritual and after the Buddha's Dharma, Sudatta asked the Buddha to appoint a great virtue, according to him, to Sàvatthi to guide the practice of setting up the monastery. The Buddha appointed the virtue of Sariputta.
Sudattà and Sariputta go to Sàvatthi [9]
One week later, Mr. Sudattà went to Venuvana's court to say goodbye to the Buddha and to the Sangha, and at the same time took the merit of Sariputta to the capital of Svatthi.
They went north, to the town of Patthigma (now Patna), crossing the Ganges, to the city of Vesalia. Two people were taken by Ambapali to rest in the mango orchard for two days. Venerable Sariputta told her, it is estimated that about six months the Buddha and the congregation will travel the law in Kosala, on the way will certainly visit Veslas. Ambapàli was very happy, she took the Buddha and the congregation as she passed Vesala visiting her mango garden for a few days.
Saying goodbye to Ambapali, two men headed northwest. From Rājagaha to Sàvatthi it is 435 km. This is the first time Mr. Sudattà has walked for such a long journey, for he must walk with the great virtue of Sariputta. Wherever he goes he announces within six months that the Buddha and the congregation will pass, everyone should prepare to receive the perfect Enlightenment, he will teach the doctrine free from mortal suffering, to return Nirvana serene serene pure. Mr. Sudattà is Anàthapindika, a rich man who has a lot of compassion and has saved countless poor people from all walks of life. Anyone who hears also wishes to see the Buddha and hear his teachings. Every morning, when Venerable Sariputta goes to begging villages, Mr. Sudattà goes to tell people about the Buddha and the mendicant congregation.
Going for a month, two people arrived in Sàvatthi. Venerable sariputta was invited to Sudatta home to give offerings. He kindly introduce the virtue to everyone in the family and ask the great sermon for everyone to hear. His father, his mother, and his wife Punnalakkhana are all three. His wife has four children, three daughters and one young son, named Subhadha sister, Subhadha me, Sumagadha and Kala.
Every morning, the great sariputta beggars alms in the capital of Sàvatthi. In the evening and evening, he resides in a thin forest near the banks of the Aciravatì River, now the Rapti River (Rapati). Meanwhile, Sudattà goes to find places where he can make the Buddha and the congregation stay, facilitating the propagation of the Dharma. At the same time, they also informed people that the Buddha and the congregation were about to arrive in Sàvatthi in a few months.
Sudattà bought Prince Jeta's garden [10]
Mr. Sudattà has visited many places but there is no place beautiful and pure by the forest of Prince Jeta (Ky Da), 50 acres wide, just south of the capital of Sàvatthi. Sudatta went to Prince Jeta's palace to meet him. At that time in the Prince's palace there is a familiar familiar with Sudatta. After greeting, the magistrate introduced Sudattà to the prince. Sudattà expressed his desire to ask Prince Siddhartha to hand him over to the prince's garden as a base for training and teaching the Buddha and the Sangha. Prince Jeta has just been twenty years old and was given to him last year by his father, Pasenadi. The prince looked at the editor and looked at Sudatta.
- This garden of the King has just given me. It is precious like gold. If you spread gold all over the garden, I will give you back.
Prince Jeta said half jokingly, believing that no one could buy that. Mr. Sudattà also knew that Prince Siddhartha did not want to sell. But he came here with the determination to buy a cool garden with this rare land to offer the Three Jewels and to allow his people to have the rare noble means of study. He answered:
- Prince Siddhartha, I agree to buy under the conditions of the Prince just mentioned. Starting tomorrow I will bring gold to.
He was startled, saying:
- I'm joking. I do not sell that garden. You do not carry gold.
- Dear Prince, I came here with the intention of purchasing the other was pleased to Sakyamuni Buddha offerings (Shakyamuni) is the Great Awakening, a rarity in the world church multiplication. The garden will be refurbished to serve as the place of teachings of the Buddha, as a place of study for thousands of monks, and will be a place where all people in Sàvatthi can come to study the noble doctrine of liberation from pain. Suffering in this world. I have heard the Buddha preach at Sìtavana near the capital Rayagaha. I believe the benefit that the Buddha and the Sangha will bring to the people here is even more precious than the amount of gold that I have to spend twice. Because of great conditions, I ask you to keep the promise of your own free will.
- Dear Prince, official documents prince whispered in his ear, he missed making the price already. Now the buyer has agreed he can not not sell. Moreover, at that price, he can not be responsible for Prince Siddhartha.
When Mr. Sudattà has spread the whole field of gold, it is left to the roots, not knowing what to do. He asked Prince Siddhartha. Prince said:
- He was because of the Buddha, because the Sangha, because of the people, because of the noble doctrine that spent every gold, is adorable. So the rest is my contribution to it, he does not have to worry anymore. Looks like he donated the land, and I donated all the trees in the garden to set up the house for the Buddha.
From then on, this garden was called "Jade Buddha", or Jetavana (Jade Buddha). Today this garden is called Saheth.
Mr. Sudatta was delighted, praised the Prince's merit, and invited the Prince to deliver the Venerable Sariputta to visit Jetavana the next day. Prince Siddhartha and Mr. Sudattà went to see the forest. Three men planned to elaborate on the way of setting up the amphitheater, lecture hall, wells, baths, passages, entrances, etc. On this occasion the Prince was well aware of the activities of the congregation and the doctrine. Enlightenment of the Buddha. Mr. Sudatta asked the great virtue of Sriputta to reside in Jetavana for the guidance and maneuver of the building of the monastery. Sudatta's news spread through the land and gold from Jeta, offering all the trees in the forest to lay a foundation for the Buddha's salvage across the capital of Sàvatthi. People curious to see the great virtue Sariputta sermon to hear. Many people volunteered to do the work, contributing to the establishment of the clinic.
Four months later, the construction was near completion. Venerable Sàriputta started to return to Paradise to welcome Buddha.
Buddha life in Ambapàli's mango orchard at Vesali. [11]
When Venerable Sàriputta arrived in Vesali, he saw many yellow shirts in the city. Asked if he knew the Buddha and the five hundred mendicants who had been there for a few days and now residing in Mahàvana (Dai Lam, Grand Forest). Venerable Mahàvana immediately to find the Buddha. He reported that Sudatta spread the gold for the land and Prince Jeta offered the tree to set up the quarters; The renovation work is almost complete now, and he came here to take the Buddha to Sàvatthi (Sávatthi). Buddha told her that Miss Ambapali had just come here to visit the Buddha and the monk tomorrow at the mango in her mango orchard; Kondanna and Uruvela Kassapa were older, unable to go far, so volunteered to remain in Venuvana to lead the public to study and practice in Magadha; Tomorrow is the rite of Ambapali; On the day two hundred monks will stay in Mahāvana practice,
Yesterday, after arriving in Mahavana, on the way back, Ambapali met with the Prince Licchavi (Le Xa Tu) in the middle of the road. Vesala is the capital city of Vajji (Bat Ky). The king asked her where to go. She replied that she had just come to Mahàvana to visit the Sangha and to meet the Sangha tomorrow for lunch at her mango garden. The princes told her to cancel inviting Buddha to invite them:
- If she invited us, we will pay the price of tomorrow meal is one hundred thousand gold coins.
- You do not know the Buddha should say so, Ambapali. The Buddha is the Enlightened One, a rare saint in the world. I have invited the Buddha and the congregation tomorrow, even if you gave me this Vesalia, I can not change my mind. However, by this I invite you to attend the ceremony and hear the Buddha sermon. Well, please get out of my way to get home early to take care of tomorrow's reception.
The Licchavi princes diverted her away; Then they brought each other to Mahàvana to see the Buddha is how she respected Ambapáli. Arrived, they parked in the forest and walked in. The Buddha knew that the Licchavi princes were young men with many seeds of compassion and wisdom. He invited them to sit, and told them how he developed his spirituality and enlightenment, and the doctrine of the cessation of suffering he had invented. The Prince of Licchavi knew that the Buddha was also a ksatriya (soldier, king) like him, he was a prince who for his great sorrows saved sentient beings from the practice. Going around spreading his noble doctrine, not only is it possible to save suffering for the people of this world, but also to help them get out of the cycle of reincarnation to enter into celibacy. The prince fell to pay homage to the Buddha, please accept him as a disciple in the house, and then occasionally Buddha to the mother in their home. Buddha accepted the smile.
Ambapali invited her friends and some of the Licchavi princes to hear the sermon on the Four Noble Truths and the four foundations of mindfulness.
Lord Buddha at the palace of the Prince Licchavi [12]
The following day, the Buddha with over a hundred mendicants came to the ritual ceremony at the royal palace of Licchavi (Le Xa Tu). The ceremony was held solemnly. Vegetarian foods are prepared very thoughtfully and specially. When the son is finished, the Buddha preaches to everyone to hear the doctrine of dependent origination, the doctrines of absent-mindedness, and the Noble Eightfold Path. Due to ignorance, the relatives of each other arise in four stages, pillars, no, create many karmic good evil lead the sentient beings in the cycle of birth and death. To get out of the cycle of birth and death, suffering must first of all be unhappy, ie, not living freely, then following the path of the Noble Eightfold Path, ie following the child. The way of the eight righteous practices of the saint:
1. Right view : Seeing things is impermanent and not self.
2- Right Thought: Thinking carefully to understand the truth, cause, cause and effect, to know how to benefit yourself, benefit people.
3- Right Speech : To say the right harmony, there are benefits to the listener.
4- Right career : What work is justifiable, benefit yourself, benefit people.

After hearing the Buddha sermon, twelve princes apply for ordination according to the Buddha. Among them were Otthaddha and Sunakkhatta, [13] the two most influential princes of the Licchavi tribe. The king invited the Buddha and the congregation two years to settle in Vesala. They promised to build the amphitheater, etc. and so on, to turn Mahàvana into a full-fledged sanctuary for the congregation of monks and nuns. The Buddha gladly accepted.
Sàriputta took Buddha to Sàvatthi [14]
The next morning, Lord Buddha, Venerable Sariputta and the congregation set out for Kosala's capital, Sàvatthi. The road to Sàvatthi to the great virtue of Sariputta has become familiar. On this path, layman and layman Sudatta Anàthapindika has gained public confidence in the Buddha and the congregation. This time, the Buddha and the congregation go wherever they are welcomed by the people. On the left bank of the Aciravatì River there are many cool forests for the Buddha and the congregation resting every night. Delegation divided into three groups. The group of Buddha headed by teacher Sariputta guide. The second group was led by Venerable Assaji. The third group is Moggallana's great virtue. The nuns go very solemnly, when begging as well as on the long journey.
From Vesalia to Sàvatthi 340 km. The congregation travels one month to arrive. Anàthapindika and Prince Jeta go outside to welcome the Buddha and the Sangha to Jetavana (Ky Vien). Seeing the temple is a spacious, cool, quiet, refined garden, the Buddha is very happy to welcome praise. Sudattà is very happy that the Buddha was thanks to the opinion and care of the construction of great virtue Sariputta and Prince Jeta was like that. Thanks to its spacious, cool, but not too distant location, thanks to Sudatta and Prince Jeta for their great financial and human help and experience at Venuvana (Truc Lam) Venerable Sariputta created Jetavana into a very special home for one to two thousand monks. There are Buddha's own (Gandha kuti), 80 am dedicated to the elderly mendicant, Many empty rooms are available for young beggars, three or four large wells and a large multi-storey auditorium. Jetavana is considered the most important basis of the Buddha, and he has been in this place about 25 times during the 45 years of propagating the Dharma.
This kid was nine years old. According to the principle must be close to the virtue of Sariputta to learn with the teacher. But six months since Sariputta was absent, he was handed over to Moggallana. At the Jetavana monastery, he is back to the same teacher Sariputta.
Prince Jeta and layman Sudattà made the offering at the monastery, just after the Buddha and the congregation arrived in Sàvatthi. People around the area are invited to listen to Buddha's teachings. Having heard of the Buddha for several months, the capital of the capital was crowded with great crowds that day. After the meal, the Buddha preaches the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path: First of all be aware of the sufferings of daily life; Next, investigate the near and distant causes of those suffering; Buddha just before the end of suffering by eight action right feet to attain true happiness and everlasting nirvana outflow [15] , pure. Among those who heard that day was Queen Mallikà, the wife of King Pasenadi of Kosala, and Princess Vajiri, invited by Prince Jeta. Princess Vajiri is only ten years old.
Listen to the sermon finished, the Prince wants to seek refuge in the Triple Gem; But the queen said to wait for the king's approval first. Queen Mallika knows in the future how King Pasenadi (Prasenajit, Persia Nac) also sympathize with Buddha. His sister, Queen Videhi of King Bimbisàra of Magadha, has been taking refuge in the Buddha for three years.
Among those who came to hear the sermon on that day, there were many important figures of the prevalent sect in Sàvatthi. They come for curiosity rather than learning. Someone listened to the Buddha and suddenly open mind. Having listened to them, the Buddha was a forceful opponent. But everyone recognizes that the appearance of the Buddha at Sàvatthi is a very important event in the history of thought and religion in the kingdom of Kosala (Kiều Tát La).
After the offering ceremony and sermon was complete, layman Sudattà reverently paid homage to Buddha and said:
- Lord Buddha, Prince Jeta, son and family together with all the friends of the Buddha and the congregation use [16] this jamboree as a refuge . We wish the Exalted the joy of acceptance.
- Sudattà, your merit is enormous. This Jetavana monastery is very convenient for study and propagation. You have been diligently supporting the Dharma, so now you should strive diligently on the path of liberation.
The next morning, the Buddha and the congregation embraced the alms round. Venerable Sariputta divided the bhikkhus into twenty groups, each group of fifteen, sharing the streets in accordance with the alms round. Then gathered to the clinic before midday to share food and meal.
Every seven days there is a Buddhist sermon at Jetavana. The people are very crowded. Within ten days, King Pasenadi, who had not listened to the Buddha's sermon, had repeatedly listened to the empress and royal court praising the Buddha's noble teachings. According to Prince Jeta, Buddha was only 39 years old, the same age as King Pasenadi. The king did not believe that such a young man would have the virtue and knowledge of modern masters such as Puwana Kassapa, Makkhali Gosaleiputta, Sanjaya Belatthiputta, Ajita Kesakambala, Pakudha Kaccàna, Nigantha Nātaputta [17] (Foreign professors). His heart was half-doubtful. He thought that when he had a chance, he would go to see the Buddha directly to find out that both Queen Mallika and Prince Jeta were affectionate and respectful.
The dog holds the gold cup [18]
One day, while Buddha went begging in Sàvatthi, came to a well-off house, the landlord was away, a white dog leaning against the bark. The Buddha looked directly at the dog said:
- Well, shut up!
The dog suddenly looks scared, ear bud, bowed, curved tail between the hind legs, slowly go to the front door down. When the owner of the house called Suka came back, the dog was upset and asked the employee:
- Why is the dog today so sad, scared?
" Sir, Gotama sat up in front of the alms-gathering house, bent to bark, Gotama rebuked, he was lying there until now.
Suka angry looking to Jetavana monk asked the Buddha what to do so sad dog to stop eating, lying still. Give newspaper :
- That dog is sad at him, not in me: Previous life it was his father. Before dying to show him the gold mark, his father regretted reincarnation as a dog lying in the golden mark to keep him unknown. Go to the place to dig up, then it will be upset.
Suka heard, back home to dig a cup of gold. He was very happy, invited the Buddha and the saint to the house to increase the offerings.
The Buddha taught seven classes of wife on earth. [19]
One day, Mr. Sudattà invited the Buddha to the convent. While Lord Buddha and Mr. Sudattà were talking in the living room, there was a loud noise coming from the back of the house. Buddha asked something. Mr. Sudattà said:
- Lord, that is Sujàtà [20] , baby strawberry . My only youngest son Kala is still living with us. His wife is the son of millionaire Dhananjaya; He is used to scolding his servants, but he does not respect the eldest, ignoring the counsel of his husband and his parents. Today knows that the Exalted to the house that it also does not abstain anything. We ask the Blessed One to forgive.
The Buddha called out the bride and gave a lecture on the seven terms of wife in society. The Buddha said:
- Society today is often ignorant of the important role of women in the family. Actually a family is happy or not largely due to the character, manners and ingenuity of the general. If one observes, there are seven types of wife:
1- The woman has no compassion, low spirit, no care to take care of her husband, not polite courteous, love to do stubborn, damaged body contorted. That is the murder wife (Vadhakabhariya).
2- The woman steals her husband. Or the stamp of the husband made for personal use. It is the wife of theft (Corabhariya).
3- The woman is lazy, voracious, does not do anything all day, likes gossiping and groaning, not paying attention to her husband's hard labor. It is wife like mistress (Ayyabhariya).
4- The woman loves her husband like a gentle mother, look after each care. It is a wife like mother (Matubhariya).
5 - The husband respects her husband like his sister respectfully, peacefully and wholeheartedly serve. It is a wife like a sister (Bhaginibhariya).
6 - Charming woman, gentle, cheerful, joyful when seen her husband as long-distance friend close friend. It is a wife like a close friend (Sakhibhariya).
7-Whispered woman is not afraid, complain, silent and always obey her husband. It is a wife like a maid (Dasibhariya).
Hey Sujàtà, that is seven class wife. So let's see what class you belong to?
- Lord Buddha, please think that from now on you belong to the seventh wife.
- Hey, Sujàta, good-natured, because the next four wives, after death will be born in heaven. The three previous wives will have to be reborn in hell.
After listening to the Buddha's teachings, Sujàta attained enlightenment.
The Buddha taught that there is suffering [21]
One afternoon, there was a young man, a groggy face because his only son had just died. For a few days, he went to the grave hall crying "Baby dear! Where are you now? " Many people find him so miserable to tell him to go to see the Buddha at the Jetavana monastery. After listening to him, Lord Buddha advised:
- Hey man, life is like that. Every hurt is suffering.
- You were wrong, he was protesting right away. Merchants only give people joy and happiness only. Only death brings suffering.
Having said that, he was upset to stand up, leaving the Buddha an opportunity to explain more. He was disappointed, wandering a while when a team of people was gambling. He sat down to attend and by the way told them about the meeting with Buddha. The others agreed: "Love can not bring sadness and disappointment. Love only brings joy and happiness only. You're right. Mr. Gotama said wrong. "
This story is spread out, soon became the hot topic of sainthood in Sàvatthi. Many sect leaders also claim that the Buddha has a misconception of love. The story goes to King Pasenadi [22] .
That afternoon, during a family meal, the king said to the empress:
- The monk that is called the Buddha may not be a good man.
- Why do you say so? Asked Queen. Who criticized Gotama?
- This morning I heard the court officials talk about Gotama. They say that as far as Gotama goes, the more hurt he gets, the more hurt he gets.
- If Gotama said it, then it must be true.
- Empress should not say so. I have to think about it. Do not act like a pupil, whatever the teacher says is right.
Empress is silent. The next morning she asked a person to call Nalijangha to see if he had said that "Love is the source of suffering and despair"? If so, please clarify the Buddha clarification, then try to remember all the Buddha taught to tell her story.
Nalijangha to see the Buddha, confirmed by the Buddha and told the following two stories show that love comes with suffering:
- At Sàvatthi, recently a girl has just lost her mother. She is so miserable to go crazy, all day wandering the streets, meet everyone asked "Where is my mother?" Also in Sàvatthi, not long ago, two young men and women fell in love, but the girl's family forced her to marry her for a boy she did not love. Therefore, two lovers must commit suicide, thinking that only death can bring them together. This is Nalijangha, Tathagata says suffering is suffering because when you love, people often cling to a person or something. While in this world all things are impermanent, there must be birth, there must be a tan, no one avoided.
Nalijangha about telling Queen Mallika hear. One day when King Pasenadi was free, the queen asked the king,
- How do you think? Is Princess Vajiri the one you love and cherish the most?
- Yes, my love and my daughter are also possible.
- So what if there is something unfortunate happened to Vajiri, you have worry, grief and disappointment?
The pasenadi king was startled, silent. The King finds that in love there are already germs of anxiety, sorrow and despair. King naturally lost peace, muttered:
- Everyday I have the opportunity to visit Gotama.
Buddha Pasenadi King [23]
One day King Pasenadi traveled alone to visit the Buddha, without a queen and a princess. He left the car and the guard outside Jetavana and walked alone. A mendicant takes the king to see the Buddha before the leaves of the people. After greeting and peace, the king immediately:
- Gotama, often praised him as the Buddha, has reached the highest level of enlightenment. I wondered how old he was, he was only ten years old, how did he achieve that? I have heard of such high esteem leaders as Pùrana Kassapa, Makkhali Gosaleiputta, Nigantha Naktaputta, Sanjaya Belatthiputta and so on. These are all long-time practitioners, age is high, why do not they recognize themselves as completely enlightened? There are also Pakudha Kaccana and Ajita Kesakambala. Did you hear about them?
- Dear King, Buddha calm, I have heard of them and have a taste I have met. Excellency, enlightenment does not depend on age and years of study. There are little things that one should not despise like a little prince, a snake, a small flame and a young priest. The baby king can also have the king's virtue. A snake can also make you lose your life for a moment. A small spot of fire can burn a forest or a city. A young monk can attain enlightenment altogether. The king, the wise man never despised a young son, a serpent, a small flame, a young priest.
King Pasenadi looked at the Buddha with astonishment, knowing immediately the Buddha wanted to remind his youth. The Buddha uttered these words innocently, inexorably, without any hesitation. The king began to have faith in the Buddha. He continued:
- Gotama, someone said that he advocated not to love. Because the more love, the more anxiety, sorrow and disappointment. I think that might be true, but my heart is still. I think if there is no love life is dry and very tasteless. Please take this place for me.
- Great king, heal rather, his question had the opportunity to enlighten me weak sense for people to understand me. Life desperately needs love, but not love based on desire, passion, and attachment, but love, which is broad, equal, and indifferent, called compassion. The word (maitri) is happy, karu (karunà) is to save suffering. Compassion is not tolerated by anyone, there are recipients, should not be entangled in the trap of greed, hatred and delusion. Because there is no entanglement in the self, so it does not bring worry, sorrow and disappointment. A compassionate person is willing to give pleasure, to save suffering for all beings, regardless of whether he or she is a parent or brother. Sultan, he is the leader of a country, if he develop compassion, the people throughout the country are grateful for merit.
- stations have a family to look after, a kingdom to care. If I do not love my family and my people in my country, how can I care and take care of them?
- Great king, I do not mean the Great King should not love the Prince and Princess Vajiri Jeta, I recommend the Great King should love everyone as he loves the prince and princess. Love equality, not discrimination, is compassion. Compassion and choice create injustice and division, hatred and war. Only compassion really brings peace and happiness to everyone.
- What a miracle! But how can we express our love for a person if we do not show them that they care for them more than others?
- Great king, each with its own sufferings and aspirations. Finding ways to satisfy their true desires is "From," seeking to deal with their suffering as "Bi". The joy of salvation, equal suffering for all people. Just enjoy the favorable coast is the action. He should be happy, save suffering depends not on the person.
- What a miracle! Gotama. His teachings on compassion were both magical and profound. I need time to reflect and to penetrate the two words Compassion. Thank you and thank you. The other day I will come here to learn about your enlightenment and liberation teachings.
That afternoon, Queen Mallika and Princess Vajiri suddenly found the king very sweet and silent. Empress and princess know that is the effect of the meeting between the king and the Buddha.
The visit of King Pasenadi at the Jetavana monastery has been widely discussed and has had a great impact on the sorcerer congregation in the capital, Sàvatthi. Some sectarian leaders, who have long been respected and patronized by the king, began to feel guilty about being abandoned. They looked at Jetavana, with no sympathetic eyes. However, intellectuals and youth seek to Jetavana monastery increasingly crowded. In just over two months, over 150 young men have been ordained and ordained by the teacher Sariputta. King Pasenadi and Queen Mallika both seek refuge in the Three Jewels, as disciples of the Buddha. See the king Pasenadi diligently attend to the court of the offerings and listen to the sermon, some officials in the court also imitate the king.
Buddha for the bearer of the name Sunìta monk [24]
One day, while begging in a peri-urban neighborhood, near the bank of the Aciravatì River, the Buddha encountered a burdened man named Sunìta. Seeing the Buddha and his aldermen are dignified, go to the tunnel, Sunìta awkward. He knew he was dressing dirty, smelly, carrying two boxes of manure. He hurried down the river. The Buddha knew that this was a good person so he went down to the river to receive the Sunata. Seeing this, Sariputta teacher also left the ranks to follow the Buddha. Teacher Meghiya, the attendant of the Buddha, also hurried to follow. Other bhikkhus find the strange stop, stand silent in the line, watch the eye.
Sunìta dead end. He put his load down, looking at him. Above the road, the yellow cassocks are in long rows. On the bank of the river, three bright brutes were approaching him. Not knowing where to go, Sunìta immediately wading into the water, going away to avoid. According to the custom of the time, Sunìta knew that low class people like him had no right to approach monks and officials. But when he was about four feet from the shore, the water reached the knee, the Buddha came to the water, looking at him as if to ask something. Suniet na hand in hand Buddhist. Buddhist persistence:
- He came over here and asked me a little bit.
- Dear God, I dare not. I'm a bad guy, I dare not come near you, I'm afraid to defile you.
- We are monks and nuns. We are only afraid of greed, anger and delusion that can contaminate our minds. Do not be afraid, come here and ask me something. What is your name ?
- Yes, my name Sunìta. Please ask what you want to ask. I dare not come near you.
- Hey Sunata, listen carefully. The rivers of Ganges, Yamunas, Aciravatì, Mahi River, Rohinì River, etc., once turned to the sea, became sea water, the same saltiness. Likewise, any person of any class, whether good or good, once left the monastery, resolved away from desire, anger, delusion, determined to practice a clean lifestyle, high bar The same, they are equally valid. All beings have Buddha Nature. Those who are committed to practicing noble doctrine can become saints. Hey Sunata, do you want to join a mendicant congregation?
- Dear Mr. Sunata, I do not dare ... I dare not ... Yes, if you allow ... then I'm very happy. Yes, I am very happy if you allow me to join the mendicant congregation. I would like to sincerely follow what you teach.
After saying this, Sun Thi Xa lia liaa. Buddha told Sunietta to bathe and then go to shore, he will be ordained. He then taught his teacher Meghiya to come to see Mr. Ananda asking for a checkered shirt on the bank of the river. When the attendant brought the cassock to the place, Sunietta just bathed. The Buddha ordained the Sunìta at the river bank, then gave the great virtue of Sariputta to bring the new monk to Jetavana, while the Buddha and the congregation continued to beg for alms.
Everything that happened on the river was seen by local people. The news of the Buddha's acceptance of the Sunata into the mendicant congregation began to spread in the capital, causing great stir. The clergy and clergy all expressed their disapproval of the boldness. The great virtues reported to the Buddha about the bad publicity to ask for countermeasures. The Buddha taught:
- Tathagata once said to the teacher " If the teacher diligently practice the Dharma of the Tathagata, then surely the teacher will also achieve the results as Lai ." What do you think? If Sunìta diligently practice according to the Dharma of the Tathagata, Sunietta can achieve direct results?
- Sun, if Sunìta diligently practice according to the Dharma of the Buddha, surely soon will become a result.
- Yes. Master, it is important to save a living being from suffering in samsara. Please try to instruct the Sunìta diligently practice the Dharma. Once Sunjaa has harvested good results, the public opinion will stop. Again, the teachers, Tathagata once advised the teacher should practice equality of mind while begging, the acquisition of new monks into the congregation must also be done with equality of mind. Again, the teachers, the adoption of the Sunìta into the congregation is a bell alerting the elite to social injustice caused by the mind of grasping the current class. If we do not do, then who else can do it? The patience and patience are all things will be fine.
The great disciples of the Buddha are happy reincarnation credit.
King Pasenadi and Sunanta [25]
About a month later, rumors of a burial of the Sunja name were taken by the Buddha into the congregation, arriving at King Pasenadi. Some of the leaders of the sects in the capital came to see the king in protest of this, contrary to the traditional customs of the country. Moreover, according to the custom of veneration of monks, how will Pasenadi be treated in a way that is right in front of the Sunnis? The king was also puzzled not less.
One day the king escorted him to the Jetavana monastery. Car stopped in front of the gate, the king walking alone. King Pasenadi was familiar with the way in the monastery so he went straight to the Buddha's amulet, without asking. Occasionally met some monks to go, the king stood and folded his arms greet. The mendicants also stood hand in hand. The king noticed that everyone had a calm, leisurely, leisurely manner. Halfway to the retreat of the Buddha, the king met a mendicant sitting in a sermon under a tree, around a number of young mendicants and ten white lay people are listening hard. The mendicant was sitting sermon, age less than forty but dignified solemn manner. The King stood watching this beautiful scene, listened for a moment, then went back to the am Buddha.
In front of the am, the king saw the Buddha standing before the door itself. After greeting, the king said:
- Dear Lord, who is the mendicant teaching under the tree on the other who has such respectable solemn attitude?
- Sire, that monk Sunita. He was ordained a month ago but the monk was very diligent. You are very honest, honest, smart and have big head. With this momentum, in just a few years you can go anywhere.
- Sir, is that someone ... is the name Sunìta burden?
- Sir, yes. Because of previous evil karma, Sunietta must be born in the lower line, to carry the burden. But Sunietta has also planted many good qualities so this life study ethics very fast. Sir, all beings have Buddha Tanh, have the ability to enlighten the Buddha. People mistakenly see only the present life, distinctive mind, praise, stigma, making the mind more delusive dense. Enlightened people know that all beings have Buddha nature, only because of good and evil, but temporary difference, should develop equality and compassion, create favorable conditions for early beings to wake up, escape the scene. Suffering reincarnation.
- That is wonderful, sir. With the equality of mind, great compassion, with the noble doctrine, he was able to save Suniet from the downfall, no longer despised, discriminated. Today, he again escaped from the delusional insights of the secular, developed the center of equality, great compassion to follow the noble teachings. I was asleep just waking up, as stray people in the forest have found a way out. I will continue to support the Dharma from now until the end of my life.
From that day on, the rumors about the bearer of the name Sunìta were accompanied by the news that King Pasenadi became a disciple of the Buddha. The disputes dissipated as people noticed the patience and diligence of the new monk.
The Buddha gave Nandà Bhikkhu to the heavenly realms [26]
One day, at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha was told by master Meghiya that the great virtue Nandà, his half-brother to Buddha, was not comfortable in his ordination. Nanda feels remorse for leaving his beautiful wife, Princess Janapada Kalyani, who says:
- You know, I remember the day I took a bowl of Buddha from the king's palace on Nigrodha, Princess Janapada Kalyani came to speak softly in my ears. Do not go long, I'm sad, I miss you! " And now it's been over a year since I left her. I feel sorry for leaving a beautiful young bride, gentle, to her melancholy waiting, desperate. I have now been ordained in order to live a noble life, but when I think of her, I feel very regret, no longer suffering. I intend to renounce these noble precepts, may the Blessed One return me to the layman's life to be near her.
The following afternoon, Buddha called Nandà to meditate. He asked the virtue Nandà really did say so. Venerable Nanda admits that his spirit is weakened by anxiety for the suffering princess waiting for her. Give newspaper :
- Hey Nand, life is suffering, anyone can avoid it. If there are children around, Kalyani also suffers from other causes, such as jealousy, anxiety, sickness, senility, etc. Only the enlightened, the awakened in meditation And pure purity is the inner peace, not depending on the outside. After the discharge of this body, at least was born in the heaven of Tàvatimsa to enjoy full enjoyment. Do you want to go to heaven to see how living beings live there?
- Dear Brother, I want to. But how to go?
- You sit meditating beside me, I will take you away.
The Buddha found the place of solitude, pointing to Nandà's practice of concentrating on the body, entering and dwelling in thought and contemplation in the body, [27] and the two meditated under an old tree. Then the Buddha held Nandà's hand, using Nandà's power to bring Tàvatimsa. On the way, across a forest has been fire, Nand see a female monkey, burned ear, burning nose, burning tail, trying to cling to the trunk. When it came to heaven, Nanda suddenly felt wonderful joy delight. Everything here is beautiful and beautiful: the beautiful fairies dancing in magnificent palaces, the scenery are serene and peaceful, evoking Nand's mind in an unforgettable joy. Nandà forget about the scene, forget the new wife, He was mesmerized in front of a magnificent heavenly setting. The Buddha said:
- Hey, Nand, where do you see the fairies and princess Janapada Kalyani who is more beautiful?
- Exalted, compared to the fairies here, Kalyani was like a burning monkey trying to cling to the tree once.
- Hey Nand, so be energetic, try it up. Tathagata assures that if you diligently practice the Tathagata of the Tathagata, after the network, you will be reborn here living with these fairies.
As a child is encouraged, great virtue Nand white:
- Dear Buddha, the disciple vows to try to practice noble teachings to be born in this heaven Tàvatimsa.
When bhikkhus know the virtue of Nandha and strive for virtuous conduct, and diligently meditate for the sake of being born to the heavenly Tàvatimsa to live with the fairies, Rent "to look forward to the Buddha reward as committed. Venerable Nanda awakened his lowly goals, ashamed of, neglected bad thoughts, and tried hard to practice, soon attained Arahantship. Virtue to the white Buddha:
- Lord Buddha, please cancel the promise that if the disciples try to practice will be born in heaven Tàvatimsa lives with the fairies.
- Hey, Nandà, because his mind is completely pure, no longer entangled with a little or clinging and clinging, so Tathagata is no longer bound to that promise anymore.
When some monks expressed skepticism about the fruitfulness of the great virtue of Nandà, the Buddha said:
- Before Nandà as a dilapidated roof, but today he is like a thick canvas. Rain can not penetrate the thick layer of a roofed roof. Also, desire can not penetrate the mature mind that has been fully developed [28] .
Among the disciples of the Buddha, Venerable Nandà is known for being the most self-controlled.
According to Theragatha, the great virtue Nanda has uttered the following words:
- One day, I was light and shallow. My mind is focused on courage. My results are so light and shallow. All my dates are wasted in sex, disloyalty, sexiness.
"But thanks to the generosity and generosity of the Buddha, the former royal line, I am fortunate to be brought into high life with deep profound thoughts. And from the infinite ponds of life, my heart is picked up and saved [29] .END=NAM MO AMITABHA BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH GIAC TAM.THE MIND OF ENLIGHTENMENT.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA PURELAND=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.11/5/2017.
