15th-37th in Venuvana (year -553)
Devadatta would like to replace the Buddhist congregation leader [1]
One afternoon, Jìvaka went to Mt. Griddhakùta to see the Buddha. At the foot of the mountain, he met the new Buddha from Venuvana (Truc Lam). He greeted the Buddha and asked for permission to follow him up the mountain. Jìvaka watched the Buddha climb the stone steps to the mountain in the belly compliment: This year the Buddha was 71 years old but also hard sand hard too. The Buddha climbs uneasily and lavishly, with one hand holding the bowl, one holding the cross of the sangha. Venerable Ānanda walking beside the Buddha also can not hold the bowl in place of the Buddha, because a teacher must also hold the teacher's bowl and the other cross-shirt as the Buddha. Jìvaka went up to ask for the bowl instead of the Buddha. Buddha handed the bowl to him and smiled, saying:
- Tathagata has climbed this mountain a thousand times, each time carrying the bowl is not a star.
The stone steps were built up to the amphitheater of the Buddha on the top of the hill. It was King Bimbisàra who ordered the construction of several hundred stairs to offer. Arrived, the Buddha and he sat on a large stone floor. After questioning the Buddha about his health and the work of Dharma propagation in all places, Jìvaka said:
- Lord, I would like to briefly state the status of congregation here. I see the status of the congregation directly related to the political situation. I think the Blessed One should be informed clearly.
Then Jìvaka told the Buddha that Venerable Devadatta now has the ambition of leading the congregation to replace the Buddha. Venerable Devadatta has a strong winged wing and a large crowd of mendicants and politicians. The right hand of Devadatta is the Kokàlika Venerable, who often condemns it. There are also Venerable Kotamoraka Tissa, Venerable Khandadeviputta and Venerable Samuddadattà, who are widely supported by their followers.
Venerable Devadatta is very intelligent and eloquent so he is well-behaved, in the mendicants as well as in lay people. The Venerable did not formally face the Buddha, but repeatedly made the remarks that the Buddha was older, no longer capable of leading the congregation more and more, and the manner of administration of the Buddha was ancient, no longer liked. Fits with the youth and the new age.
Standing socially, Venerable Devadatta was well supported by many of the rich, many of the Sakae and upper classes. They disagreed with the Buddha's acceptance of the lower classes into the congregation. The most dedicated supporter of the monk is Prince Ajatasattu (A Soathara). King Bimbisàra believes in the Buddha how Prince Ajatasattu believes the devout Devadatta like that. Prince Siddhartha built a large mosque on Gayàsìsa Mountain, where the Buddha once said the Fire of three brothers Uruvela Kassapa and a thousand of his disciples. Prince Ajatasattu regularly provided the offerings to Mount Gayàsìsa. Many merchants and politicians who want to get the crown prince also imitate the monastery that offers and hears the dharma. With that support, the prestige of the Venerable Devadatta is growing.
Speaking of this, the Jìvaka doctor looked at the Buddha and lowered his voice lowly:
- Buddha, what you just said is not what is important. But as far as I know, it seems that Prince Ajatasattu and Venerable Devadatta, who are anxious to take the throne and lead the congregation, are plotting to harm King and the Blessed One, the two most beloved children. in life. I wish the Buddha be careful and pay special attention to this.
- Jivaka, thank you for the Tathagata know the current unrest. But do not worry too much. Tathagata will know depending on the time.
Dr. Jìvaka reported from leaving. Buddha advised Ananda should not disclose this to anyone.
The next ten days, during the monthly sermon at Venuvana, the Buddha preached on the Five Powers, the five spiritual powers needed to nourish the fruit of enlightenment. Buddha said:
- People who believe in the Dharma, want to bring into practice, need to know the dharma . What are 37 dictates? They are: satipaììhåna, the four noble truths, the four kinds of mindfulness, the five factors, the five factors, the eightfold sense and the eightfold path . [2]
"You know that the Five Aggregates are the five roots that give rise to the Dharma, which is the effect of the growth of the healing and the suppression of defilements to bring the cultivator into the path. Personnel (Pancendriyani) include: Credit units (Sraddhendriya) is faith in the quarterfinals of substrate (size, set, kill, religion), believe in the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha); Attack (Viryendriya) is the courage to practice the law; Base concept (Smirtindriya) is the heart always think of the Dharma; The base (concentration) is the mind in Dharma; Tue (Prajnendriya) is in the beginning of the mind, know the law as the true nature (clarity of truth).
"Once the Five Pitfalls have been developed to maturity, the Five Towers will become the Five Powers , the five powers, the five carriers of liberation on the way of liberation, Good things and eradicate evil roots. Five powers include: Trustee force (Sraddha bala) ie devotion to the Three Jewels; Strict force (Virya bala) to practice French law, devoted to the evil law; Spa concept (Smirti bala) ie always remember impure body, the mind is impermanent, selfless approach, life is suffering; Samadhi (concentration bala) special training ie meditation to rid negativity from six faculties (senses) caused; Intellectual capacity (Prajna bala) ie by the function that arises out of meditation wisdom, the five aggregates are not clear,
Today's lecture was attended by over three thousand people, including King Bimbisara and Prince Ajatasattu. When the Buddha had just finished, people had no chance to ask questions they had not been fully understood, then Venerable Devadatta stood up, came to the Buddha face, bowed respectfully and said:
- Buddha, this year lifespan of Bhagavan was high, Bhagavan had poor health. The Buddha needs a restful rest to ease the pain in the final years of life. The Blessed One spent a great deal of effort in establishing the mendicant congregation and has continued to grow to this day. The congregation has become overwhelming and scattered in many countries separated, the work of congregational leadership has become too heavy for the Blessed One. Please let the retreat into a place to rest. I will ask the Exalted Monk leader on behalf of the Sun. (Legislation, Work, Volume 2: 361)
The Buddha looked at Devadatta and said:
- Venerable Devadatta, thank you for worrying about Tathagata's health. But now the Tathagata is still strong enough to lead the mendicant congregation.
Venerable Devadatta turned to the masses. There were about 300 masters standing up hand. The monk looks up to the Buddha, saying:
- Lord, that is not your own opinion. Many great virtues are here as well. Please do not be afraid. I realized that I was capable of leading the congregation so that the Buddha could be healed during his old age.
- Come on, Devadatta, do not say it again. Among the great disciples of the Tathagata such as Sàriputta and Moggallàna better than many teachers that Tathagata has not given them the responsibility of leading the Congregation of the Congregation, let alone teachers, because it is the vow of Tathagata, Tathagata Must be complete As long as the time comes, Tathagata will make a timely decision.
Blessed by the Buddha among the crowds, including King Bimbisara and Prince Ajatasattu, Devadatta was embarrassed. His face was red. He went back to his seat, not saying a word.
The next day, on Mount Griddhakùta, Teacher Ananda confided to the Buddha:
- Dear Brother, Brother Devadatta is an avid, again blessed by the Blessed Monk in front of the crowd, he will surely find a way to avenge. I think there will be serious divisions in the congregation. If you can see that I can talk privately with brother Devadatta to advise, please go.
- Ānanda, the Tathagata, the Devadatta in the middle of the crowd and in front of the monarch is because Tathagata is willing to show people that Devadatta is not an important person in the congregation, and the behavior and words Of Devadatta alone, Devadatta alone is responsible, we do not have to bear that responsibility. Ānanda, if you can advise Devadatta to recite, then you go try.
A few days later, Jìvaka returned to Mount Griddhakùta to visit the Buddha. He told the Buddha that, as he was known, Devadatta seemed to be planning to separate from the congregation with the support of prince Ajatasattu.
Devadatta established his own congregation at Gayàsìsa. [3]
Exit that came to the Buddha's sermon on the monthly Venuvana. Every day the masses to listen to is very crowded. There was also King Bimbisara and Prince Ajatasattu. Venerable Ānanda noticed that the mendicants in the immediate vicinity of the previous two. Venerable Devadatta was also at the forefront of the mendicants, between the two Venerable Sariputta and the Mahàkassapa.
As before, after the Buddha's sermon was finished, Venerable Devadatta stood up, came before the Buddha, hands bowed, and said:
- The Blessed One, who taught the mendicants to live according to the principles of sexuality and nurture, to desist from desires, to live simply with the minimum material conditions. Today I would like to propose a five point regulation to implement the principle of less desires and know enough:
" First , masters have to spend their lives in the forest or in the garden, not sleeping in the city or in the village.
" Secondly , the mendicants would have to beg for a lifetime, not to be invited by the lay people to meet the boys in their homes.
" Third , the mendicants have the right to pick up rags or rags to bind them to y and not to the yogis.
" The fourth point , the mendicants only sleep under the tree, not sleep in the room, am, lovelorn.
" The fifth point , the mendicants are only allowed vegetarian, not meat, fish.
"Dear Lord, if the mendicant congregation meets these five points, then surely the new principles of sexuality and nurture will be strictly enforced.
- Devadatta, the Tathagata does not accept the obligation to follow the five points, because those five points limit the occasions when people can contact the mendicant to learn about the Dharma. Those who wish to follow those five points are followed, but others are not obliged to follow. As well as about vegetarianism, the mendicants may temporarily received a donation that man Vietnam made available, including the five pure humiliation [4] , that is not because of the mendicants that man Vietnam Killing Devadatta, according to the present legislation, has many opportunities to contact and guide laypeople, especially newcomers who have firsthand contact with enlightened enlightened beings.
- So the Blessed One does not accept my five point legislation?
- No, Devadatta, Tathagat does not accept the five-point legislation of the teacher proposed.
Devadatta bowed to the Buddha and returned to his seat, smiling, no expression of disappointment.
Later, people noticed that during the ceremony of bodhisattva every half a month at the Venuvana monastery was absent about 300 mendicants. Everyone knows that these people attend the ceremony at the Gayàsìsa exposition at Vajrayana Devadatta. After the bodhisattva, some mendicants asked to see the Buddha and said:
- The Blessed One, the brothers following the Venerable Devadatta told us to follow the congregation of the Venerable Devadatta leader at the Gayàsìsa condominiums, because the law is much more serious legislation of the Exalted, thanks to the application. Radical five-point legislation proposed by the Venerable Devadatta. They say as if Venuvana (Truc Lam) is so happy, there is no difference between people. The young mendicants, especially the devotees of the Vajji monastery Devadatta, followed the Gayàsìsa monastery. Please teach us how to treat the brothers there how?
- Teachers, Buddha said, you do not mind too much about this. Everyone has the freedom to follow the teacher they trust and respect. It is important that you understand the teachings of the Tathagata. There is no doubt or understanding, should learn thoroughly, and then must diligently practice meditation and live a good life according to their ability.
A few days later, Jìvaka visited the Buddha on Mt. Griddhakùta. He said there are more than 500 monks who had gone back to Venerable Devadatta at Mount Gayàsìsa. At the same time, Venerable Devadatta and Prince Ajatasattu were quietly campaigning for a major political move to take Prince Siddhartha to the throne. In his opinion, the Buddha should be careful and take the necessary measures to avoid the scandal of Devadatta and Ajatasattu's mischief.
Venerable Devadatta established his own congregation in Gayāsìsa to stir up public opinion in the capital Rajagaha and neighboring countries. The alms mendicants are often asked by the people of the congregation. Venerable Sàriputta instructed the masters to answer briefly as follows: "The one who sows the bad person will reap bad results. Dividing the congregation is a sin of the dharma. "One day, after the sermon of the Buddha, a mendicant asked:
- Lord Buddha, everyday we go begging, often asked about the actions and statements of the Venerable Devadatta criticized the Sun, we do not know how to respond to the reason, from carrying Divide the congregation. Blessedfully expressed instruction.
- The teacher should say that Devadatta has separated himself from the congregation, no longer hold a position in the Tathagata of the Tathagata. Devadatta is fully responsible for his statements and actions. Teachers should inform the public of this. (Viniculture, Small Products, Vol. 2: 362)
- The Blessed One, Venerable Sariputta asked, in the past I have praised the virtue of Brother Devadatta in front of people, now when someone asked about the actions and statements of the brother, Point out the bad points. (The Rules, Work, Volume 2: 363)
- Sàriputta, the old virtuous praise of Devadatta, do you say the truth?
- Well, I told you the truth.
- Now, if you point out the bad points of Devadatta, do you tell the truth?
- Well, I just told the truth only.
- So there is no obstacle.
The following days, during public meetings, the mendicants informed everyone that Venerable Devadatta had left the congregation, and that the Buddha and the congregation were no longer responsible for their actions. And the statement of Venerable Devadatta again. Meanwhile, the two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallana remained silent. Seeing this, Ananda asked:
- Brothers do not say anything, sure brothers were deliberate?
- Yes, Ananda, we were intentionally to serve the Buddha and congregation by other means.
Prince Ajàtasattu crowned king [5]
One morning, in the gloomy wind and rain, the people of the capital of Rajagaha (Rajagaha) were told that King Bimbisàra abdicated, ceding the throne to Prince Ajatasattu (Thien Kien). The prince's coronation will be held within ten days, on the next full moon day. This sudden source of information shocked everyone that there was something going on in the palace.
A few days later, Jìvaka went to Mount Griddhakùta to visit the Buddha. He would like to talk privately to him. Jìvaka told the Buddha that one week ago, the Musketeers saw Prince Siddhartha break into the king's palace in the middle of the night. Seeing the suspicious gesture, they checked and found a sword in the Prince's shirt. They took the prince to meet the king, presented the king with the sword and narrated the narrative. The king asked:
- Ajàtasattu, at night you bring the sword into the palace for what?
- My dear King, I want to practice the Royal Family.
- Why do you want to kill me?
- King, I want to be king.
- If you want to be king, just tell me a word I will yield to the throne. Why kill father for sin?
- Lord, I do not know that. I have mistaken, please Sister pardon my son.
- Okay. But who's motivating me to do this? Can you do it alone?
Prince Ajatasattu was silent. The king asked for a moment, the Prince revealed that the cooperation of Venerable Devadatta.
The king called two of his loyal servants into the palace, at midnight. The king told them all to hear and ask for their opinion. One suggestion should be to deal with Ajatasattu, Devadatta and all the people involved in the case to eliminate the post. One suggestion should consult the Buddha is the enlightened enlightened, moreover in this case there is Devadatta, the son of King Suppabuddha (Good Samaritan) Koliya, both his sister and a disciple of the Buddha. King Bimbisàra thought for a moment and said,
- I have long wanted to abdicate to follow the Buddha. Now it must be time. Okay. Tomorrow I will give the throne to Prince Ajatasattu. Ten days later, on the full moon day, will crown the Prince.
- Your Majesty, murder?
- I forgive my daughter and to Venerable Devadatta. I hope that these two people, when satisfied, will find my tolerant heart, and will be gentle towards the people.
Then he let the prince go to announce the king's decision right away, and told people not to reveal this assassination to outsiders.
But three days later, Prince Ajatasattu ordered Bimbisàra to be banned from the palace. No one was allowed to visit, except for Videhi. The two loyal deities of the king were also imprisoned. The two families were informed that the two of them were sleeping and eating in the palace to discuss the matter within seven days.
Dr. Jìvaka told the Buddha that these were completely kept secret. The reason he is known is because he was called to heal the queen Videhi. The queen told him about him and told him to go up to the mountain with the whole truth. Jìvaka continued:
- Buddha, I hope that after the coronation, Ajatasattu will be released back to the ruler and two courtiers.
Finished everything, Jìvaka bowed to the Buddha and down the mountain.
The Buddha called Venerable Sariputta, said:
- Sariputta, Tathagata will not attend the coronation of King Ajatasattu, and Tathagata expects that all the monks of the congregation should not attend the ceremony. We should not be involved in this evil act.
- Buddha, you see. I will inform the public that the Blessed One will not attend the coronation ceremony and the Blessed One wishes the monks in the congregation not to attend the ceremony.
Coronation Day has arrived. Not seeing the Buddha and the monks in the congregation led by the leader, the people began to question themselves. Then find out the truth, knowing that the king and the two great spirits are still in solitary confinement and starving. The people also saw the full presence of the congregation led by Venerable Devadatta. They notice the difference between the two congregations. A silent opposition against the new king and the independent church was discovered.
King Ajatasattu was reported on the anti-silent movement among the people, immediately summoned Venerable Devadatta into the palace to inquire.
Ajàtasattu and Devadatta plot to assassinate the Buddha. [6]
One day, in the middle of the night, while the Buddha was meditating on Mount Griddhakùta, suddenly heard a slight noise after a large rock, Buddha said:
- Someone? What are you doing here at this hour? There is something to talk about here.
A muscular young man, holding a sword, but timidly shy, hesitated, stepped forward in front of the Buddha and knelt down to say,
- Dear teacher, I was ordered to kill him here. But I dare not. May the Master forgive my son. But if you can not kill him, I will not dare return because you will be killed by the prime minister. Master, I'm scared, what do you do now?
- Who sent you to kill Tathagata?
- Yes, my son. But I do not dare to say your name.
- I do not say so. But how did your prime minister tell you?
- Dear teacher, master general of the only road up the mountain to kill the teacher while he was meditating midnight. Finished, I have to go another way to return to report to the prime minister.
- Do you have any wife or children?
- No, I only have an old mother.
- Please listen. Listen carefully and do as the Tathagata says will avoid death. Come home immediately, take his mother crossed the border to escape to Kosala immediately. But he did not go down the mountain the way his master had appointed, otherwise he would be killed by an ambush. You have to go down the mountain with a different path away from that road. Well, let's go.
The young man wept and got up, leaving the sword on the stone.
After that defeat, Devadatta hired 31 archers to ambush the Buddha. But when the Buddha passed by with serene, calm, posturing, they are all submissive, stepped into confession and asked to be ordained. [7]
The Buddha taught the Infinite Life
Early the following morning, the two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallana arrived at the White Buddha:
" Lord, we think it's time for us to go to Gayàsìsa to guide our brothers down the wrong path. We ask the Blessed One to give us some time off.
- The teacher wants to go, just go. But be careful to preserve your life.
Venerable Moggallàna suddenly saw the sword on the stone, promptly asked:
- Lord, what happened here?
- Someone is planning to assassinate Tathagata, but Tathagatus has him already.
- Devadatta is determined to harm the Exalted One, we ask the Exalted One to be careful.
- No problem, you go to safety. Tathagata knows how to handle time. The Tathagatas never dies from being murdered.
Two great disciples pay homage to Buddha and down the mountain.
The next day, Lord Buddha and Venerable Ānanda were invited by Jēvaka to his home in the mango orchard for the boys. At noon, when the Buddha and Venerable Ānanda just finished life, Jìvaka physician announced that the queen Videhi visited. The Buddha immediately knew that Jìvaka arranged for the queen to meet the Buddha. Empress Dowager came to pay homage to Buddha, sitting to sob sob. Everyone was silent. A moment later, the Buddha asked:
- Something please say queen.
- Lord, Sun status is very dangerous. Ajàtasattu decided to starve to death. She did not let me bring food to the high priest's custody anymore.
Then she told me that she was given food for the first few days. But after the coronation, the guard told the king not to give anyone food, including the queen. From then on, she secretly hid some of the rice in the hair for the king to eat food. But for a week, the guards searched it carefully, caught some of the rice in the hair. They apologized to her for having been ordered by the king to examine her thoroughly; The king said he had fasted for a week, and he did not see the devil. That way, too, she thought: before the visit to the king, she washed clean, then plastered a layer of roasted powder mixed with honey before wearing the shirt. But it was only a few days after the plot was revealed, and she was forbidden to visit the king again. Here she sobbed and said:
- Buddha, human suffering too. Surely the king can not live for a few more days. In the cell, every day the emperor looks at Mount Griddhakùta through a small window with iron bars, looking forward to seeing the Buddha. After abdication, the emperor was looking forward to being ordained according to the Blessed One. Despite his imprisonment, the high priest's face was calm and full of forgiveness towards his unruly son. I cried a lot with the king. I told the emperor that I was determined to pray for the next birth, and that the emperor was born where there are no unruly children .... I am so distressed, please do the Blessed One.
"I do not know what kind of past sin created this evil son now, and the Tathagata by virtue of which do dependence on Devadatta? Bending the Blessed One just teaches me how to be born to a world of peace without hell, money, livestock and evil people.
- Ladies and gentlemen, please do not be so miserable. Everything has its causes and consequences. This happened because in the past, while praying for a son to follow, the king went up to the mountain to meet a meditation monk to ask the Taoist help. The Taoist said he would have to wait another twenty years, when the chancellor who was due to give birth would be the High King. The king has said that the Taoist must commit to keep the promise that he will be his son after the network. But then the king was anxious to have children soon to send people up the mountain to kill the Taoist while sitting in meditation. The monk was reborn as Ajatasattu as committed and demanded a blood debt.
- Buddha, yes. Unfortunately, when I was pregnant with Ajatasattu I was biting on the knee of the high priest to suck up blood [8] . You must try to resist that craving. One day, the king picked up the knife cut fruit fell, the hand to hand the elders put in his mouth, bloody drunk. I feel embarrassed and abhorred children. I let go of the upper hand, cry sobbing. The king asked why I cried. I'm serious. The king is astonished, comforted me, then called astrologer to ask. Astrologers say the child in the belly will later kill the king to occupy the throne. I was sad, one time I rubbed my abdomen for abortion, but eventually I did not have any results. Knowing the story, the king called me to say "I do not escape old age, I want to see my son, Do not do that again. When Ajàtasattu was three years old, he played with knives to claim the king. The frightened monarch drove him downstairs but he only broke one finger. But I can not bear the fact that a child treats his parents so badly. May the Blessed One show me where there are no unruly children so that I can pray for rebirth in that place.
The Buddha sat seriously, radiating from between the two eyebrows to the ten directions of the world. Hao ray back to the head of the Buddha, showing the sovereign state of the Buddhas to Videhi easy to see. Ms. Videhi finished watching the White Buddha [9] :
- Dear Buddha, the Buddha's realms are peacefully pure but I only love to be born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss of Amitabha Buddha. Ask the Blessed One to teach you how to practice being born in that realm.
Buddha smiled to Videhi:
- Pure Land of Buddha Amitabha, also known as the Buddha of Infinite Life, in the West, where all beings are from the lotus flower, the mind is purely gentle. But in that realm all beings are male, no female.
"Whoever wants to be born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss of Amitabha Buddha must have three minds :
1-Chi earn earnest.
2- Desire deep.
3- Make vows to recite [10] and dedicate.
And the following three businesses :
1- Honoring parents, worshiping the teacher, from the heart does not kill, tu ten good.
2-Refuge Three Jewels, keep full ten sex, do not commit dread.
3- Development of Bodhi mind, deepening the cause and effect, reciting scriptures, advising others to cultivate.
The three above are the righteous monks of the past, present and future Buddhas. She has no celestial eye, today saw the realm of Pure Land is thanks to the power of the Tathagata. Later on, beings who want to see the world of Ultimate Bliss and Amitabha Buddha must practice the following six visualizations [11] :
1- Imagine the sunset.
Frost-consciousness
3- The idea of saving the earth.
4- Imagine treasure.
5- Perception of water eight merit.
General Consciousness: treasures, treasures, precious ponds, guarded floors in the Pure Land.
7-think the court of lotus.
Imaginary visualization: Buddha of Infinite Life, German Consciousness
Yin, Dai Dai Chi.
9-Quan thought the whole body of Infinite Buddha.
10 - Contemplate the body color Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.
11- The concept of full body Bodhisattva Bodhisattva.
12. Think you are born in the Pure Land.
13. Imagine the Buddha of Infinite Life, Avalokiteshvara and the Great Plate on the fallen pond.
14- Contemplate the rebirth of the High.
15- Think of the rebirth of the medium.
16- Contemplate the rebirth of the goods.
Empress Videhi heard the Buddha taught only, the life of worship, pay homage to the Buddha and return to the palace. The Buddha and Venerable Ānanda also retired from Jìvaka, back to Mount Griddhakùta.
Sariputta and Moggallana to Gayàsìsa [12]
After leaving the Buddha on Mount Griddhakùta, the two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallana return to the Venuvana monastery to arrange some work and then go to Mount Gayàsìsa. They came to the place where Venerable Devadatta was lecturing. Venerable Devadatta saw the Venerables Sariputta and Venerable Moggallàna were very happy, inviting them to sit together in the court. But they refused, only to be sitting with the other virtues in the audience. After finishing the Dharma talk, Venerable Devadata said:
- Today there are two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallàna come to us. This is great news for the Gayàsìsa Church. The two Venerables were our two very close friends and the great mendicants. So I would like to leave the two Venerable Sriputta and Moggallana to continue today's sermon.
With that said, Devadatta stood up and pointed at Sariputta and Moggallana. Two monks stand up. A burst of applause. Venerable Sariputta went to the court to talk about the Four Noble Truths, and he spoke very good and interesting about the sufferings of life, the deep causes of suffering, the true happiness of holy life, and about How to eradicate suffering root He emphasizes the methods of practicing precepts, precepts, and wisdom to avoid suffering. Most listeners are happy to listen and enjoy life. Devadatta, in particular, seems tired, sitting nodding.
The two Sàriputta and Moggallàna stayed in Gayàsìsa for more than a month, participating in all congregational activities. Every three days, Venerable Sariputta teaches and teaches to the sages. Every day Moggallana interprets the practice and the confusing aspects of the doctrine. The masters here have seen the two teachers are respected and trustworthy seniors. But Kokajlika, Devadatta's trusted assistant, advises Devadatta not to trust the two teachers. Instead, Devadatta disagreed, but was delighted to see the person in charge of teaching the mendicants instead.
One day, after the sermon on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, Venerable Sariputta said to the mendicants:
- Hey brothers, and this afternoon I will leave Mahamoggallana brother of brotherhood. We must return to the Buddha and the congregation led by him. Dear brothers and sisters, we have only one enlightened being in this world. That is the Buddha Skakyuni. It was he who had been under the Bodhi tree for 37 years. It was he who founded the Bhikshuni Order with all three of the Three Jewels in Isipatana, near Benares. This of brotherhood, divided the congregation was a serious crime [13] . Brothers should return to repentance with the Buddha. We believe that with your great compassion we will be reappeared. For me, only the Buddha Sàkyamuni is the true master of all of us. Two brothers I greet the brothers.
After saying these words, the two monks retired from the mass and silently returned to Venuvana. That day Devadatta was busy working on the Rajagaha capital. Kokoclika stood up protesting, but no one reacted.
Two Venerable Sariputta and Moggallana arrived in Venuvana on the following day, 385 masters from Gayàsìsa arrived. According to the instructions of the Buddha, the two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallàna instruct the ritualists to commemorate their masses of penance before the masses, and guide them to Mount Griddhakùta to pay homage to the Buddha. The Buddha teaches the masters of Hyacinth and advises them to thoroughly respect and practice the Six Elements in the Bhikkhunii Order, and diligently study under the guidance of the Venerable Masters.
One week later, 35 more mendicants from Gayàsìsa returned to Venuvana. Venerable Sàriputta also gave them the ceremony of mass repentance before the masses, and took them to Mount Vulture to submit to the Buddha. Venerable Ānanda asked the 35 bhikkhus about the situation at Gayāsìsa. One of the seniors replied:
- When Venerable Devadatta from Ragjaha returned to Gayàsìsa, he saw that nearly four hundred monks had gone to Venuvana and went to Venuvana to meet the four monks who had followed the two Venerable Sariputta and Moggallana. But he just blundered that some people left to grieve the teacher and do not know where to break more strictly, then he silent. Two days later he returned to the capital to meet King Ajatasattu. Meanwhile, the monk Kokàlika went to curse those who had left, leaving the rest of the people also feel uncomfortable.
- Do not know what two Brothers Sariputta and Moggallana have said to the fraternity that the brothers abandoned Devadatta return to the Buddhist like?
- The two brothers did not say anything to Devadatta. Both teachers just lecture and teaching us very well. Most of the brothers were only two and three lower so young in terms of doctrine as well as practice. To be taught by the two teachers within a month that you feel a lot of progress and understand some of the noble teachings of the Buddha, and know that the Buddha is the only Great Enlightened One Now in this world, and he himself established the first Baptist Congregation in Isipatana with the full three Tripitaka. So many brothers decided to return to the Buddha.
- What about the monk Kokaclika?
- The vicar Kokaclika saw brothers leave, angry, curse the two brothers badly [14] and charged the Venerable Devadatta not see far, too trust the two brothers should be deceived.
In a dharma talk, the Buddha praised the two Venerables Sariputta and Moggallana for eight qualities worthy of being the Tathagata messenger . The eight conditions are:
1- Listen.
2- Knowing to make others listen;
3- Know how to guide.
4- Understanding.
5-Awareness of the wall.
6- Knowing others how to perceive the wall.
7- Know what is beneficial, what is harmful.
8- Know air conditioning, not controversial. (Viniculture, Small Products, Vol. 2: 399)
The Buddha also said that Devadatta will suffer unhappiness, dying hell for life because the mind is dominated by eight things are not true Dharma :
1- To seek benefits.
2- Sad because there is no benefit.

Devadatta rolls out the Buddha [15]
One afternoon, while the Buddha was walking down the mountain, from east to west on Bimbisàra Road, on the slope of Griddhakùta Mountain, to the narrow side of the road with a steep slope, Devadatta stood on the steep sloping hill south. Big rock The Buddha was walking on a narrow road between two steep slopes, unable to avoid a large, large, rolling stone from above. But as the rock rolls down to the middle of the steep slope, it touches the other two rocks and splashes out into pieces. Only a piece of splash hit the feet of the Buddha to bleed the hem of the hem. The Buddhist mendicants carried down to the foot of Mount Vulture, so he is staying at the house Mardakukshi [16] (Pali: Maddakuchchi). Buddha told the monks to carry him to Jawaharaj's mango garden nearby. To where, Jìvaka doctor disinfection, hemostatic drugs, Then wound the wound to the Buddha. Finished down, he said:
- Buddha, I have a son in patients awaiting a Rajagaha. After visiting this patient, I will return immediately. In the meantime, please pray to the Blessed One to lie down and do not touch the wound.
But after visiting the patient, the gate was closed. Mr. Jìvaka coal:
- If we do not come back to remove the tape, the wound tonight will make the Sun painful!
Meanwhile the Buddha told the Venerable Ānanda:
- Ānanda, Jìvaka is late, the gate is closed, can not pass. He thought it was time to remove the bandage. So remove the bandage.
Venerable Ānanda removed the bandage and saw the wound healed. The monk asked:
- How did the Deity, brother Devadatta do such cruel things will be subjected to karma like?
- Ānanda, there are five sins (five rebels) after the common network must fall into hell without interruption. It is: Kill father, kill mother, kill A-la-drought, break the union and increase the Buddha body blood. It is the year of evil karma that leads to continuous suffering in the abyss of Avici until the new out of work.
Early the next morning Jìvaka returned to the bed and asked the Buddha:
- Lord, did the wound hurt the Sun Tonight?
" Hey Jìvaka, all suffering is completely over for the Tathagata.
Then the Buddha said shelf:
"He is full of life, no longer sad.
"He has freed himself from worldly attachments,
"Nothing is a problem, there is suffering.
(Dhammapada, lesson 90)
Tathagata only speaks words that are beneficial to the listener [17]
One day Prince Abhaya, the son of Bimbisàra, with the beautiful Missumavati in Ujjeni, listens to the excommunicator Nigantha Nāapaputta, who asks the Buddha to come to his house and then asks an unanswerable question. "Do Gotama ever say unpleasant words to sorrow others?" If the Buddha answered "Yes", the Buddha is no ordinary human; If the Buddha answered "No" is lying because the Buddha said Devadatta will be punished in the Inuit Hell in a lifetime, unavoidable?
The next day, the Buddha arrived at the meal, Prince Abhaya asked:
- Said Gotama, have you ever uttered uncomfortable words to make people unhappy?
- Depending on the case. But why Prince asked Tathagata that?
- Madama Gotama, in fact, it is the question of the teacher Nāapaputta. If he answered yes then he is no ordinary man; If you answer no, then you lie because you told Devadatta to fall to Hell.
- Abhaya, if the baby is sitting in the Prince's heart now swallow a piece of wood or a gravel neck, the Prince will do?
- I will take that. If it is difficult, my left hand will overturn its head, and then use the thumb of the hook to make it painful and bleeding. Why? Because I love it, want to save it.
- Also, this Abhaya, the Tathagata never told the truth, uttering in vain, saying unpleasant words hurt others; Never to say the truth in vain, offensive, hurt others; Never to say the truth, to say useless words to please others; Never to say the truth in vain to please others; Tathagata just say the words are true and beneficial to the listener, whether to please others or not .
Devadatta throws the elephant intoxicated with the Buddha [18]
One day, the Buddha and some of his solemnly departed monks went from Venuvana (Trúc Lâm) to Ràjagaha (Ramses) to beg for alms. As soon as the gate to the north, suddenly heard people screaming panic, scattered. An enormous elephant from the royal elephant cage opens up, puts the hose up, the tail and the ears are upright, the mouth is wide, running straight toward the city gate. It was the elephant Nalagiri [19] , the most famous of the king. He just ran up and down, the foam rising, his eyes as bloody mad as mad. Seeing the situation too dangerous, some mendicants rushed to find shelter on both sides of the road, some sheltered behind the Buddha. Venerable Ānanda held the Buddha's hand to one side, but the Buddha stood still. Ananda stepped up to stand in front of the Buddha, suddenly heard the Buddha howled a loud and long. Resounding howls Dignified, majestic This is the howling of the elephant god in the forest Rakkhita near the city of Pārileyyaka. The Nalagiri elephant came only ten feet away from the Buddha, suddenly heard the loud howls, it stopped standing, the expression from the ferocious to gentle, then obediently lie down to the ground. The Buddha used the howling to make the elephant pay attention, and the Magical (Metta) to calm its aggression. The Buddha approached, touching his head with all his great compassion. Then he grabbed the elephant's trunk, slowly bringing the elephant back to the barn in the cheering of the people on both sides of the road. The mouth of the elephant has a strong smell of alcohol. When he came to the elephant cage, Lord Buddha sternly looked at the elephant keeper, and in his calm tone he said:
- This Nàlàgiri elephant is abnormally aggressive, he must be careful not to let him go to a road that harms the lives of people.
- Blessed, the management of elephants reverently bowed and said, I do not dare such omissions. Early in the morning Mr. Devadatta came to tell his son at the court to meet the king needs, he will hold the elephant until the child returns. Do not be shy when you just arrived where the incident occurred. May the Lord forgive me.
Within a few days, the Buddha was killed three or four times in two weeks spread throughout the capital. The people are more dazed, scared, or scared to believe that Bimbisara is the king. Someone knows he died in prison. King Bimbisàra is 66 years old and he is five years younger than the Buddha. Year of refuge as a disciple of the Buddha, he was 31 years old. He entered the throne at the age of 15, he reigned for 51 years. For the last 51 years, Magadha has always been peaceful, the people have settled down. Except for a single war with the kingdom of Anga. In that war King Brahmādattà of Anga lost the battle, and Anga was dependent on Magadha. When King Taxila Pukkusati came to power in Anga, King Bimbisàra established friendly relations with the king and brought him to Buddhism. For a lasting peace, He became acquainted with his neighbors, marrying Kosala's Pasenadi saint Videhi as chief minister, second from the rulers of Madra and Licchavi. Sister Bimbisàra's eldest daughter Mallikà was also given to King Pasenadi as queen of Kosala.
King Bimbisàra paid tribute to the Buddha by making a path from the foot of Mt. Griddhakùta to the Buddha to go easily, and built a stupa of Buddha's hair and nails in the royal garden, Low and light candles around the tower to make offerings.
On the day of the Sabbath, Bimbisara, the Buddha himself went to the ceremony, and told all the monks in the congregation to go. The cremation ceremony is held solemnly. The people pity their virtuous king who came to attend so many.
On the way home, the Buddha visit the mango garden of Jìvaka. He told the Buddha that after the queen Videhi was prohibited from visiting the king, he died in prison, next to no relatives. He always looked up at the summit of the Holy Spirit (Griddhakùta) looking forward to seeing the silhouette of the Blessed One.
One day, Jaisaluk took Prince Abhaya, the son of King Bimbisara and Padumavati, to Mount Griddhakùta to present to the Buddha. Abhaya asked to be ordained. He no longer earnestly look forward to life style reputation. Having heard the Buddha sermon several times, he was very fond of the teachings of liberation and the desire to live the leisurely lifestyle of the mendicant.
