Lumbini.
Lumbini is a shrine in the present-day Pali City of Nepal, near the border with India, where Queen Maya gave birth to Prince Siddhartha.
Lumbini is located in the foot of the Himalayas, about 25km east of Caussover, where Prince Siddhartha lived until he was 29 years old.
During the Buddha's time, Lumbini was a large garden located between Shabbosh and Devadaha. There is a pillar that marks the place where Asoka visited Lumbini.
In 1997, UNESCO recognized and put Lumbini on the list of World Cultural Heritages.
Lumbini is surrounded by an area of large monasteries and temples. Shops, restaurants, hotels are not allowed to be built in this area. The area is divided east and west, the Theravadin temples in the east, the Mahayana and Vajrayana temples in the west.
The Lumbini shrine contains ruins of ancient temples, a large Bodhi Tree, an ancient bathing lake, the Asokan Tower Pillar and the Mayadevi Temple, guarding the rock accurately at the birthplace of the Buddha. . From dawn to dusk, pilgrims from different countries come to chant and meditate in this area.
